We need you!

The Educational Excellence School Advisory Council is a committee consisting of stakeholders representing administration, teachers, UTD, Educational Support, Business/Community, students and parents. They discuss and review our school's School Improvement Plan. We meet monthly on an as needed basis.  The following parents are currently on the committee: Linda Dwyer, Isaac Pesin, Shannon Del Prado, Thaddeus Foote, Arianne Sasso and Teresa Fitzgerald.

We need to have an election for 3 parent representatives for the 2015-2016 school year. If you are interested in adding your name to the ballot, please contact Debbie Potter at dpotter@dadeschools.net by September 29, 2015.
Peace Week
Save the Date: October 5 to 9

The theme for this year's Peace Week is "Celebrating Diversity."  We are so excited to host the "Celebrating Diversity Photo-Voice Exhibit" created by Naomi Ross at our school. Students will learn about the exhibit and then we will create our own Palmetto Elementary Celebrating Diversity exhibit. Each grade level, with the help of our amazing Room Parents, will create a board that depicts our diversity and the boards will be on display in the Media Center at the end of the week so classes can do a Diversity Walk to see all of the boards.  As part of our No Place for Hate initiative, 30 of our 4th and 5th grade students will be trained by the Anti-Defamation League on "Becoming An Ally:  Responding to Name-Calling and Bullying."  Here is what is scheduled for the rest of the week:

Monday 10/5:  Assemblies; Room parents to take pictures for Diversity Boards

Tuesday 10/6:  Anti-Bullying Pledges; Pass A Smile, Becoming An Ally training

Wednesday 10/7:  Wear White for Peace; Have You Filled A Bucket Today?

Thursday 10/8:  Diversity Beans

Friday 10/9:  Diversity Walk
