Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday funds will be donated to Palmetto Elementary Performing Arts. Friday funds will be donated to the Live Like Bella Foundation. Only $1 each day to participate!

Fathers and Father-figures join us Wednesday, September 16 for our 2nd annual Day Break for Dads' event. Have fun and enjoy breakfast with your Palmetto student(s) and learn about our Watch D.O.G.S. program. See attached flyer for more details.

For any parents who are interested in having their child join this year's String Orchestra please email Mr. Diez at oliver@dadeschools.net with the following information: Child's name, grade level, teacher's name, is your child a beginner or how long has he/she played, and which instrument will he/she play: violin, viola, cello, or bass. Please spread the word as we are trying to have a group of 20-25 students. |

The Performing Arts department will hold a meeting for all parents on Wednesday, September 16, at 6:45 pm in the Cafeteria. If you have a child in band, chorus, orchestra, or cheerleading, you should plan to attend. |

Blessings in a Backpack Kickoff Event
Come out an join Pinecrest Mayor Cindy Lerner and MDCPS School Board Vice-Chair Dr. Larry Feldman at the Blessings in a Backpack kickoff event on Thursday, September 17, at 4 pm in the Cafeteria, and learn more about how to volunteer for this special program.
Palmetto Elementary's Blessings a Backpack, or Palmetto Pals, program is for students on free or reduced lunch and provides a bag of groceries every Friday so the student will have food over the weekend. Funding is provided through private and public donations.

The Miami Palmetto Senior High School PTSA welcomes us to their campus on Friday, September 18 at 11:30 am for a special guest speaker. Julie Lythcott-Haims, former Dean of Freshman and Undergraduate Advising at Stanford University, will speak about her new book, How to Raise an Adult. The event is free and open to the public. September 25, 8:30 - 10:00 am
Generation's Day will be on Friday, September 25th from 8:30 to 10:00 am. Grandparents or other special family members are invited to come to school this morning for classroom activities and a visit the Book Fair, which will open a day early for our special guests. |

A Great Book Fair Can Never Have Too Many Volunteers!
Our Fall Book Fair will be held September 28 to October 2 to motivate students to read more. Check with your teacher or room parent for you class's time to visit. Join our volunteer group and help us plan and conduct our school's best reading event ever!
