The Green Team: Chip Bag Collection (Mon-Fri in the Cafeteria)
In an effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle, our lunchroom has a new bin for up-cycling lunchbox chip baggies. The chip bag collection will reduce waste while earning money for our school through Terracycle. We also welcome PES families to drop off their Single Serve, King or Family size SALTY snack bags. Hats Off to our Teachers and Staff!
Join the PTA in thanking all the teachers and staff who work so hard to make our school the great place it is. You and your child are invited to leave thank-you notes in the individual staff "mailboxes" set up in the cafeteria under the lion. The boxes will be there through this Friday morning, and then handed out at the staff lunch.

Fairchild Challenge Awards

at the Garden House at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens
Mrs. Raposo's Class and Mrs. Ferrer's Class will be receiving Special Merit Awards for their creative masks at the ceremony! All Palmetto students and staff are invited to attend. Anne Oria will be receiving a Special Merit Award for her Whimsical and Creative "Adventures of a Seed" Haiku. Palmetto Elementary School will be recognized for 5 years of exemplary participation at this awards program. Please be there to represent our school! This is an extremely important event for our school and needs your support!. This is Mrs. Cummins last year doing this challenge and would love to see you there to celebrate a wonderful moment! Annual General PTA Meeting
|  Wednesday, May 27 Come join us for our Annual General PTA Meeting and Elections on Wednesday, May 27th at 9:00 am (or immediately following the Golden Paw Ceremony) in the Cafeteria. You will learn about the General Obligation Bond (GOB) plans for PES, scheduled to start this summer, as well as recap of the year and plans for next year, followed by officer elections.
2015-2016 PES PTA Nominees: President: Janet Hodur 1st Vice President of School and Community Relations: Mariana Pesin 2nd Vice President of Ways and Means: Nancy Levy 3rd Vice President of Educational and Cultural: Cassi Cohen 4th Vice President of Community and Public Relations: Dena Lundy Recording Secretary: Jordan Schroeder Corresponding Secretary: Rossana Cardoso Treasurer: Tina Montesano Assistant Treasurer: Julie Lambert Other interested candidates may also run from the floor on election day. Music USA Festival Awards |
Palmetto Musicians Win Big at Music USA Festival!
Congratulations to the following groups and students for winning awards at the USA Music Festival held in Orlando, FL this past weekend:

Modified Schedule: 8:20am-1:35pm for June 2nd, 3rd and 4th
Please note that the end of the school year is just 2 weeks away!
Tuesday, June 2nd through the last day of school, Thursday, June 4th all grades will observe a modified schedule and attend school from 8:20am-1:35pm. Please plan student pickups and drop-offs accordingly.
Also, no uniform the last 3 days of school, and that week we will be collecting gently used, outgrown uniforms in the Media Center to help children in need at the Miami Rescue Mission get their new school year off to a great start.

Legacy Tree and Branch of Wisdom | There is still time to submit form if haven't already! Forms are attached (tree/ branch). Don't miss your opportunity to participate in the Legacy Tree, a PES tradition, or to have your Fifth grader join the Branch of Wisdom, a new PES tradition. Legacy Tree proceeds will go to improving the courtyards at the school, while Branch of Wisdom proceeds benefit the Fifth Grade Fund. Order forms for either project can be left in the PTA mailbox in the office, or given to your child's teacher in an envelope marked "Attn PTA".
