Chip Bag Collection (Mon-Fri in the Cafeteria)
In an effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle, our lunchroom has a new bin for up-cycling lunchbox chip baggies. The chip bag collection will reduce waste while earning money for our school through Terracycle. We also welcome PES families to drop off their Single Serve, King or Family size SALTY snack bags. Join us for some wonderful physical activity before the bell rings Monday-Friday. Coach Tanner has challenged our students and faculty to embark on a 1,600 mile trek around the state of Florida this school year. Grab a friend and your sneakers! See you there!

Walk-a-Thon 
Get your walking shoes on, the PES Walk-a-Thon is Friday, May 8. We walk around the perimeter of Palmetto Elementary and Palmetto Middle schools. Please help sponsor our PES Walk-a-thon and support our school at https://PalmettoPTA.myschoolcentral.com. Sponsored students are eligible for a raffle to win a silly string party for their class. Administrators, students, teachers, family members and volunteers will participate in this yearly FUN event. All are welcome, plan on walking with your child's class.

Fathers In Education

May 14th is Fathers in Education Day and we are encouraging the participation of our wonderful WatchDOGS! Fathers, brothers, grandfathers, uncles and male mentors are welcome! That is also the day of our Volunteer Breakfast so both Dads and Moms can enjoy a nice breakfast and then WatchDOGS can spend the day volunteering at the school.  PES Performing Arts Members to Perform at Music USA Festival in Universal Studios on May 16th!
On May 16th the Palmetto Singers, Concert Band, Orchestra, and Jazz Combo will be performing at the Music USA Festival in Universal Studios (Florida) where they will compete with other elementary music groups.
We would like to wish all participating students good luck! As in past years, we are confident you will do an amazing job representing our School!

Staff Appreciation Week

Call for Volunteers: May 18th-22nd!
Our teachers and staff do so much for our children all year long. Every day, they teach and help our children grow and learn. Teacher appreciation week is our chance to thank them and it's just around the corner.

Fairchild Challenge Awards
Wednesday, May 27, 5-7:00 PM
The Garden House at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens
Mrs. Raposo's Class and Mrs. Ferrer's Class will be receiving Special Merit Awards for their creative masks at the ceremony! All Palmetto students and staff are invited to attend. Anne Oria will be receiving a Special Merit Award for her Whimsical and Creative "Adventures of a Seed" Haiku. Palmetto Elementary School will be recognized for 5 years of exemplary participation at this awards program. Please be there to represent our school! This is an extremely important event for our school and needs your support!. This is Mrs. Cummins last year doing this challenge and would love to see you there to celebrate a wonderful moment! Annual General PTA Meeting
| Wednesday, May 27 Please join us for our Annual General PTA Meeting on Wednesday, May 27th at 9:00 am (or immediately following the Golden Paw Ceremony) in the Cafeteria. Wee will be electing the PTA officers for the next year!

| Legacy Tree and Branch of Wisdom | There is still time to submit form if haven't already! Forms are attached (tree/ branch). Don't miss your opportunity to participate in the Legacy Tree, a PES tradition, or to have your Fifth grader join the Branch of Wisdom, a new PES tradition. Legacy Tree proceeds will go to improving the courtyards at the school, while Branch of Wisdom proceeds benefit the Fifth Grade Fund. Order forms for either project can be left in the PTA mailbox in the office, or given to your child's teacher in an envelope marked "Attn PTA".
