--Laser and ink jet printer cartridges
--Aluminum pop tabs (for Ronald McDonald house)
In an effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle, our lunchroom has a new bin for up-cycling lunchbox chip baggies. The chip bag collection will reduce waste while earning money for our school through Terracycle. We also welcome PES families to drop off their Single Serve, King or Family size SALTY snack bags. See the following flyer: Chip Bag Brigade Accepted Waste. The more bags we collect, like Box Tops, the more $ is raised for our school.
Junior Troop 420 is undertaking this project for their "Bronze Award" leadership adventure to bring awareness to the school/community and make a difference in the world. By collecting and measuring the bags used throughout the year they hope to teach our children that making a small daily change in what we consume can make a big difference!

We are jumping to fight against our nation's #1 and #3 killers: cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Our Annual Jump Rope for Heart event helps students learn about the benefits of regular physical activity and heart health, and teaches children the value of giving back to those in need. Spring Book Fair
|
Coming Soon!
Dear Parents and Families:
Reading is the most important skill you can teach a child. Of all the skills kids learn, it is the one you can influence the most.
We invite you to visit our Scholastic Book Fair and experience a celebration of reading that provides families the opportunity to get involved in a universal mission: encouraging kids to read every day so they can lead better lives.
Our Book Fair is part of a reading event that brings to school a wonderful selection of fun, engaging, and affordable books kids want to read. Giving kids access to good books and the opportunity to choose books will motivate them to read more. And like most acquired skills, the more kids practice reading, the better they'll get.
Reading is vital to every child's success, and it's the door opener to the 21st century for all children. Since there will never be a substitute for a parent's direct involvement in his/her child's education, please make plans to visit our Book Fair.
Book Fair Dates: Monday, March 3 thru Friday, March 7
Before you visit the Book Fair be sure to download the FREE Book Fairs App to help you find the right fit books for your child. For more information, visit: scholastic.com/apps/bookfairs. And if you're all booked up during Book Fair week be sure to visit the Book Fair online at scholastic.com/fair. Our Online Fair is available for an extended time from February 25 to March 17.
We look forward to having you participate in our Fair, and remember, all purchases benefit our school.

The PTA is an organization dedicated to improving our children's scholastic lives through its fundraising efforts during the school year. The easiest way to contribute is by purchasing one of our membership packages - click here for details and forms needed to join. Anyone can join - including grandparents - and your contribution funds programs and activities that directly impact our children's academic experience at Palmetto Elementary.
Membership is not tied to any volunteer commitments, but rather is a way to show your support for the programs and events that the PTA provides. Don't miss out on this very significant opportunity...
