We encourage all PES families to come and explore the wonders of the market selling local, seasonal produce at an affordable price.  Get your fresh fruits and veggies, share a smoothie, and try a tasting with a friend!

This year we will have cooking demos, food preparations, and other helpful hints for your weekly meals!

Dolphins Junior Training Camp
Tomorrow! 

Gatorade Jr. Training Camp with Miami Dolphins 
Thursday, February 21st 
9:30 AM - 11:00  2nd and 3rd Graders

 

11:00 AM - 12:30 PM  4th and 5th Graders

 

 

We are excited to welcome back the Jr. Training Camp on February 21st for 2nd through 5th graders. The Gatorade Jr. Training Camp is a FREE grassroots program, emphasizing education, physical fitness, and positive choices for kids in a safe and fun environment. The Miami Dolphins will teach offensive and defensive drills featuring hurdles, knock-away dummies, ladders, and halfback pads. Children can also choose to participate in a non-contact football obstacle course.

 

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS EVENT!

Each session (8:30 AM - 11:00 AM or 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM) needs at least 12 volunteers. You can choose to volunteer during your child's scheduled session and participate in the fun! To volunteer, please contact Annie Cruz-Alvarez at acruzalvarez@bellsouth.net.

All students and volunteers must complete an online waiver or hard copy (forms were sent home last week or ask Coach Sundry for a new copy) at least one day prior to the event. There are NO exceptions. Go online at  www.dolphins.com/waivers.

  

Walk-a-Thon

Walk With Us THIS Friday!

 

 

Our annual Walk-a-Thon will be on Friday, February 22.  Money raised from the Walk-a-Thon will be used to support programs that directly benefit the children of Palmetto Elementary.  Although this is a fundraising event, all children may participate in the Walk-a-Thon.

How Do We Raise Money? You and your child(ren) can ask your friends, neighbors, co-workers and relatives to do either (or both!):

1. Make a pledge of money for the one lap that your child will walk. 
2. Call upon local businesses to become corporate sponsors of this event.

PRIZES!!!

We encourage each student to raise at least $25 and receive a free T-shirt.  Top selling classes, teachers and students will be eligible for prizes as described in the flyers available at the following links:

Our school is conducting a Book Fair to motivate students to read more. Join our volunteer group and help us plan and conduct our school's best reading event ever!

Pinecrest Schools Fundraiser
Fashion in the Gardens to Benefit Pinecrest Public Schools

Pinecrest Relay for Life
Mark Your Calendar for March 16th!

This is a community wide effort, a day of festivities and performances to raise funds for cancer research, and resources.   

 

 

Please support this event and our students by spending some time at the park. Food, fun, a silent auction, and a beautiful day of Celebrating, Remembering, and Fighting back against cancer. It is also a day to honor Survivors from our Community.    

 

We will have a special tent and invite survivors and their caregiver to a catered dinner donated by Roasters and Toasters and dessert from Joanna's Marketplace.  

 

The event begins at noon on March 16 and ends at 8:00 AM March 17. It is at Evelyn Greer Park, 8200 SW 124 St. Additional parking will be available at Palmetto Senior High School. - SW 120th St. & 74th Ct.  Shuttle service provided by the Village of Pinecrest until 11:30 PM.

Box Tops Contest
You Could Win Movie Tickets or a Class Treasure Hunt for Clipping Box Tops! 
 

Get all your Box Tops together and bring them in to school. The top 3 students that submit the most Box Tops will receive 4 Movie Tickets each!

 

The deadline is Monday, February 25th.

 

Please be sure to put the students name and teachers name on the collection sheet or in the zip lock bag with Box Tops in it.

 

All Box Tops collected will also go towards a class prize of a Treasure Hunt!

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN . . .

For K-5 for the 2013-2014 School Year. Students already enrolled at Palmetto Elementary do not need to complete any additional registration materials to continue their enrollment for next year. Parents of new students, please see Mrs. Moran at the Main Office for registration materials.

Additionally, in the case of out-of-area transfers, please note that May 1st is the home school deadline.  Please contact Mrs. Moran with any questions. 

Registration information for Pre-K will be announced shortly.

For putting together a spectacular art show featuring the work of many PES students at the South Miami Art Walk on February 8! The children's artwork is now on display in the Media Center, so be sure to stop by and check it out.
2013 Miami National College Fair
Save the Date! 
 
  • The 2013 Miami National College Fair will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Doubletree Miami Mart Airport Hotel and Convention Center, 777 NW 72nd Avenue, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Close to 200 colleges and universities from around the country will have representative to answer questions about admissions, courses and financial aid.
  • An on-site counseling center will provide students and their parents with academic advisement and college planning information.
  • A computer center will allow students to search for scholarships and research schools and occupations.
  • Information sessions about the value of a college education, the steps needed to prepare for the application process and the availability of financial aid will be presented.
