Flu Information
Protect Your Child and Others from the Flu!

Everyday preventive actions can help slow the spread of germs that can cause many different illnesses and may offer some protection against the flu. Here are some recommendations by the CDC on everyday preventive actions in addition to the flu vaccine (contact your pediatrician or GP for details on how you can get the vaccine; CVS currently carries the flu vaccine):

* Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue away after use and wash your hands. If a tissue is not available, cover your mouth and nose with your sleeve, not your hand.

* Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.

* Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs spread this way.

* Try to avoid close contact with sick people.

* If you or your child gets sick with a respiratory illness, like flu, limit contact with others as much as possible to help prevent spreading illness. Stay home (or keep your child home) for at least 24 hours after fever is gone except to seek medical care or for other necessities. Fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.

Lice Information
It's Head Lice Season!

Since we are in the height of head lice season, and as a means to minimize the spreading of head lice, please

remember to remain vigilant and check your children for head lice periodically.

In the event that your child does contract head lice, please DO NOT send him/her to school. Instead, contact your doctor for recommended treatments, shampoo, cream rinse, or lotion. Wash all your sheets in very hot water; place pillows, stuffed animals and plush toys in a plastic bag tightly sealed for 2 weeks; vacuum all carpets and upholstery furniture in your home or car, and soak ALL hair-care items in rubbing alcohol.

And please contact our staff/faculty to notify the school about any head lice incident so that the classroom may be properly checked and treated. Let's try to be a head lice free school!
