Planning Ahead for Quality of Life
Friday, February 27th
2pm - 4pm
Del Mar Library, 1309 Camino Del Mar

"Quality of life." It means different things to different people - and like so many things in life, you best know what it means when you don't have it. We're all striving to achieve it, but how do we really plan for it? Now is the time for a thoughtful evaluation of what "quality of life" means to you, and what it will mean as you age. Will you have the resources you need to maintain the lifestyle you prefer? If you became disabled and unable to communicate your wishes, would your representatives know what to do to ensure you continue to live life on your own terms?

Speaker Amy Abrams is a certified Care Manager, and holds a joint Master of Social Work and Master of Public Health. She is the co-founder of Elder Care Guides, a professional care management agency that serves families throughout San Diego County, offering assessment, consultation and in-home care services for older adults with physical or cognitive impairments, adults with developmental disabilities, and those living with serious mental illness. Amy and her team work with families to establish clear goals related to care, and to develop a personalized plan to reach those goals. This process begins by first defining what quality of life means to the individual, ensuring a care plan that recognizes their values and fosters a sense of purpose throughout the lifespan. This session will be interactive, so bring your questions!
