Planning Ahead for Quality of Life
Second Session of 2015 Speaker Series
Friday, February 27th
2pm - 4pm
Del Mar Library

"Quality of life." It means different things to different people - and like so many things in life, you best know what it means when you don't have it. We're all striving to achieve it, but how do we really plan for it? Now is the time for a thoughtful evaluation of what "quality of life" means to you, and what it will mean as you age. Will you have the resources you need to maintain the lifestyle you prefer? If you became disabled and unable to communicate your wishes, would your representatives know what to do to ensure you continue to live life on your own terms?

Speaker Amy Abrams is a certified Care Manager, and holds a joint Master of Social Work and Master of Public Health. She is the co-founder of Elder Care Guides, a professional care management agency that serves families throughout San Diego County, offering assessment, consultation and in-home care services for older adults with physical or cognitive impairments, adults with developmental disabilities, and those living with serious mental illness. This session will be interactive, so bring your questions!

A Special Thank You!

In our January 2015 newsletter, we said thank you to our many 2014 volunteers, but we forgot to include Julie Iantorno, one of our long time and hardworking volunteers. Mea culpa, Julie! We are so sorry for the inadvertent omission.

Julie, who was our volunteer in the spotlight in the August 2014 newsletter, has been a tireless volunteer for DMCC for over six years. In July 2014, Julie stepped down from her position as a DMCC board member, but continued to serve as a dedicated member of the 2014 Gala Committee. Julie's knowledge and experience as a former DMCC gala committee chair have been invaluable to more recent chairs. Not only has Julie been generous with her time to DMCC; she and her husband, Pat, have been very generous financial contributors as well. In September, they opened their home to host a lovely reception for members of the 2014 Gala Honorary Host Committee.

Julie, DMCC could not accomplish what it has without you. Please accept this special thank you for all you do for our organization!
