Volunteer Spotlight
Carly Michaels & Chris Engelbrecht
Del Mar Community Connections salutes this year's Annual Gala Committee chairs, Chris Engelbrecht and Carly Michaels. The annual benefit celebration, DMCC's major fundraising event, will take place on Saturday evening, October 25, 2014, at the Del Mar Powerhouse, and promises to be the best DMCC gala yet!

Chris, a former DMCC Board member and volunteer since the organization's humble beginnings, and Carly, a relative newcomer to Del Mar and the DMCC cadre of volunteers, have been working with their Gala Committee for the past six months. They are very excited to see months of planning evolving into both a successful fundraising event, as well as a wonderful opportunity for everyone to get together, catch up on the latest, eat great food, and "Shake, Rattle & Roll" to a "50's" theme. Funds raised through the event will help enable DMCC to continue its many programs and services, as well as implement new ones to help seniors live independently in the homes and community they cherish.

Both Carly and Chris echo the sentiment that they and their committee's hard work is a labor of love. According to Carly, "There is no better feeling than knowing that what we are doing will have an impact on our senior community. Volunteering through DMCC allows me to connect to my community and make it a better place. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, especially if you are new to an area. It strengthens your ties to the community. It also broadens your support network, exposing you to people with common interests, neighborhood resources, and fun, fulfilling activities." Upon hearing Carly's comments, Chris responded, "I couldn't have said it any better; she expresses my exact feelings." Thank you Carly, Chris, and the volunteer committee for your commitment to DMCC and our community!

Tickets for the DMCC Annual Benefit Celebration are on sale now! Please join us!

Tickets can be purchased online at dmcc.cc or at the DMCC office.
