DMCC has been informed by an astute Del Mar resident that she had just been contacted by a man on the phone claiming to be from Microsoft and requested that she follow his instructions to remove a virus and malware from her computer's Microsoft Operating System.
She suspected that he was simply trying to remotely gain access to the information on her computer. She told him she would have to verify his information and then called DMCC once she hung up.
If you have any concerns about someone who contacts you in person or over the phone, please do not hesitate to contact Del Mar Community Connections to spread the word. While you may feel reluctant to raise the alarm, it is always better to be safe than sorry!
