Our Volunteer

Spotlight is on Carol Mason

Carol Mason is a self described worker bee. In the early days of DMCC she sparked the informational coffees held in participants homes. These programs were DMCC's core outreach, drawing members together for discussion, information, and connection. Tasks from tea and sandwiches to telephoning, from hosting to helpng with mailings, keep her working for DMCC. Through the years she has always helped DMCC provide services and programs for Del Mar residents.

She qualifies as a Del Mar old timer having moved here in 1959.  Her three Rypinski named children  grew up here and now return as grandchildren to "grandma's forest."  Carol taught in the Del Mar Elementary School District and still loves to connect with the kids and their parents who moved through her classes.

Carol's other activities include lunches and happy hours with friends, ushering at area theaters, summer driving trips to an island in Washington state, reading and listening to music.  She regularly participates in her Book Group, the Retired Teachers of Del Mar, The Unitarian Fellowship and others.

We are so grateful to Carol for the warmth, energy, and beautiful spirit that she has shared at DMCC throughout the years!
