Oxbox Public Market Newsletter
July 7, 2015

It's starting to feel like summer...Cate & Co. and Three Twins have teamed up to celebrate National Ice Cream Month. Kara's cupcakes is supporting the Make-a-Wish Foundation with its Tropical Vacation cupcake, and Napa Valley Distillery is serving up mint juleps.

See you at the Market!
You've probably noticed that there are changes underway on the south side of Oxbow's main hall. Oxbow Produce and Grocery (and the juice bar) is changing its name and expanding and relocating to the center of the building and taking over the recently vacated Carpe Diem space. Carpe Diem has returned to its original home on Second Street -- it has been a pleasure to have them as part of the Oxbow family and we wish them well.

Ca Momi Enoteca will be reducing in size (operating in its original space on the east side of the main hall) and shifting its focus primarily to pizza, wine bar and pastries in a quick, casual and to-go environment. More important details to come soon, but we just wanted you to know what was up!  Also, we will soon be remodeling the common seating area by Kara's Cupcakes and announcing a new tenant for the vacated produce/ juice bar space. Stay tuned...
McKinstry Street is now open to traffic and pedestrians, and work on the flood gates at both ends of the street should be completed this week. There is still some paving work that needs to be done directly in front of The Model Bakery and The Fatted Calf -- scheduled for July 16 and 17 (both businesses will remain open during paving). Finish grading and landscaping will continue throughout July and electrical power service pedestals are being placed this week and next in preparation for PG&E to bring power to the lighting and irrigation system at the end of the month.

Just in time for the dog days of summer, Napa Valley Distillery (NVD) has bottled its ever popular brandy mint julep. In 1803, the Mint Julep was described as a "dram of spirituous liquor that has mint in it, taken by Virginians in the morning." The first Mint Juleps enjoyed by the American colonies were made with brandies or rum. Following colonial tradition, NVD's version is made with three varieties of local, hand-harvested, fresh mint, natural sugar, and their own aged, premium California brandy. Pick up a bottle before the season ends and then say goodbye until next year.
Released June 29, Hog Island Oyster Bar is the first restaurant to carry St. Mayhem wines. From the same people who produce The Girls in the Vineyard (a Napa favorite), St. Mayhem takes wine and food pairings to a new level -- inside the bottle. St. Mayhem's white wine aged on habanero and jalapeņo peppers embodies a light, but definite peppery earthiness and bite. Enjoy with California white seabass with corn, summer squash, cherry tomatoes, padrons and basil-charred onion salsa verde.
