The new South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center (SMDCAC) is a world-class, multi-disciplinary performing arts center in the heart of the Town of Cutler Bay. The $51 million Center celebrated its grand opening in October 2011. The Center is managed by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, with funding support from the Office of the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.

SMDCAC is dedicated to presenting and supporting arts and culture and providing access to the arts to the entire Miami-Dade County community.

Nordis Alvarez is a young professional whose career is on a fast track.  After moving to South Florida from New York with her family eight years ago, Nordis obtained a position as a customer service representative at BankAtlantic. Shortly thereafter, she was promoted to supervisor, then assistant manager, and finally branch manager at the ripe age of 22. This is one of the accomplishments that Nordis is most proud of.

Impressed by her track record, Executive National Bank, a locally-owned financial institution, recruited Nordis to manage their South Miami Branch in 2010. She currently services as Vice President, Branch Manager and Business Developer. Nordis's job is to expand existing relationships and attract new ones by getting involved in the community and building exposure for Executive National Bank's four locations in Miami-Dade County. 

Nordis was attracted to a career in banking because she loves working with people and helping them grow their businesses through treasury management, deposit, and lending solutions. Nordis has helped her clients at Executive National Bank accelerate their collection times to make their banking operations more efficient and profitable.

Executive National Bank's niche is working with small businesses and professionals. Nordis is focused on supporting women business owners and young professionals.   A big part of Nordis's job is engaging local business people. She is involved in various networking and charitable organizations, including Chamber South, Pinecrest Business Association, Young Philanthropists of Baptist Health, Women's Chamber of Commerce of Miami-Dade, and The Commonwealth Institute. 

Nordis is not content with just being another name in the roster. So she has taken leadership roles in many of these business networking and philanthropic organizations including establishing a successful Business Networking International Chapter in 2007, and sitting on the steering committee of the Young Philanthropists of Baptist Health. Along with being a Chamber South Ambassador, Nordis is also a member of Chamber N-XT. 

Nordis has already accomplished a great deal in her nine years in South Florida, and with her energy and enthusiasm, will certainly accomplish a lot more in the years to come.
