Capital City Station, located at the historic Crystal Garden in the 770-block of Douglas Street, was officially opened Tuesday. The transit hub offers customers a chance to buy tickets and board buses to Vancouver via BC Ferries, to the airport and to scheduled destinations throughout Vancouver Island. BC Transit passengers can also buy their tickets there, though the BC Transit stop is located just north of the Station.
"Collaboration was key to opening this new transit hub in the heart of the downtown," said Wilson's Group CEO John Wilson as he thanked The Chamber, Tourism Victoria, the City of Victoria as well as the other transportation partners who worked together to make this vision a reality.

Pokmon Go for Business!
You've seen them walking around; heads down, staring at their smartphone screens, hunting down mini animated creatures in parks, coffee shops, and maybe even your business. Now the question is how do you harness that extra traffic in and around your businesses and turn it into revenue?
You can request to be a PokStop or PokGym (and request the removal of being one)! Once you know whether your business is a PokStop or Gym (or close to one) you can take advantage of In-App micro-purchase options in the game, such as "Lure Modules" to attract more gamer foot traffic to your business. These is just one opportunity - there are sure to be more to come.
Regardless whether you are in or prefer to wait, Pokmon Go-related business opportunities are a step forward for location-based advertising. According to this Forbes piece, Pokmon Go could do for location-based ads what it's already doing for augmented reality: lift it out of the doldrums of speculation into something that actually makes money.

Green Thumb for Camosun Students
Electric blue porcelain pots, a winding path of circular stepping stones and lovingly tended patches of delicious herbs are just a few of the highlights of Camosun College's new 'edible garden.' The garden was designed to help students in the professional cook program integrate fresh, local ingredients into their cooking. "Picking herbs from a beautiful garden is much more attractive and much more present,"says Gilbert Noussitou, Camosun's Culinary Arts Chair. "When you get back to the kitchen, you still have that image of that beautiful garden that you just picked from." The garden is full of perennial plants like tarragon, chives, sage, oregano, lavender, a blueberry bush, a salmonberry bush, laurel, and a few others.

Children Off to a Fair Start!
In collaboration with Monk Office, the Mustard Seed is distributing 700 kits to 350 local families with children returning to school in the fall.
The kits, which are being distributed until the end of July have a value of over $50, and include essential stationary for children in grades one through 12, such as binders, crayons, paper and pens.
"Summer break is often the toughest part of the year for families," explains the Mustard Seed's Fairstart program webpage. "School-based meal programs end, parents address additional childcare needs and stress over preparations for their children going back-to-school."
