A time to celebrate all that makes us Canadian. This July 1st will mark one year until we celebrate our sesquicentennial - or 150th birthday.

Join our Chambers members in celebrating by enjoying a bite out, a night away from home, or plan an action packed weekend at these local treasures.

Tourism Victoria has compiled a fun list of things to do this Canada Day in and around Greater Victoria.
From being in the living flag on the lawn in front of the Parliament buildings to eating a piece of Victoria's largest Canada Day birthday cake at Fort Rodd Hill to watching fireworks in the inner harbour, Greater Victoria has something to offer everyone!

The Chamber will be closed Friday, July 1 to celebrate the holiday alongside our members.

New CEO at BC Chamber

Entrepreneur and local Chamber leader Val Litwin will join the BC Chamber of Commerce as its new President and CEO.

Since 2013, Val has served as CEO of the Whistler Chamber of Commerce, where he has grown its membership, launched a world-class educational partnership with the Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria (which was recently featured on Forbes.com) and reinvigorated the Chamber's brand.

"Chambers are among the most dynamic and necessary organizations on the planet, and not just for businesses, but for communities too," Val said. "The BC Chamber is at an exciting crossroads and ready for its next evolution. We now get to define what the future looks like with our members, with our partners and with our province. We are going to build on the strengths that have served BC businesses and their communities for almost 70 years - and we are also going to develop exciting new ones."

Litwin is originally from Victoria and a graduate of UVic.

HarbourCats Make History

Batter up never sounded so sweet here in Victoria. On Monday, when the final out was called and the Victoria HarbourCats defeated the Wenatchee AppleSox, 7-4 (in an away game no less), the Harbourcats made West Coast League (WCL) history by setting the record for consecutive victories. 15 straight victories to be exact. Then because great isn't good enough, yesterday they broke the record again by extending their win streak to 16 by again defeating the Wenatchee AppleSox 9-4.

Victoria is currently in first place in the WCL North with a 16-3 record. The HarbourCats lead the league in attendance (2,096 per game), wins (16), batting average (.280), home runs (13) and fielding percentage (.970). Bravo to our hometown team.
