Spring/Summer 2015 News - Del Mar Foundation
The Del Mar Foundation's Spring & Summer Game Plan:
Inform. Inspire. Include.

Dear Del Mar Friends and Neighbors,

For many years, the Del Mar Foundation has communicated with residents of 92014 by means of a bi-annual print newsletter. We're introducing a periodic e-newsletter, in place of the Spring print newsletter, so that we can send you information about our events, activities, and grants in a more timely and cost-effective way.

In this issue, a focus on upcoming events: the Summer Twilight Concerts schedule, plus a "benefactor blanket" opportunity that puts you front and center at the concerts; a new First Thursdays season; upcoming DMF Talks, a special Bluegrass and Beyond performance, and more!

If you have friends and neighbors who may not be on our mailing list, we encourage you to foward this e-newsletter to them. And please know that we never sell or share our mailing list - ever!

Best regards,

Sandra Hoyle & Ira Sharp
Welcome, Sandra Hoyle & Ira Sharp!
Our new board members bring their A game

Sandra Hoyle and her husband Randy moved to Del Mar in 2008 from Orange County. They love the small town feel and the proximity to the beach. They have five girls ages 2-13.

As a new board member, Sandra brings her years of experience as a Montessori teacher and as vice president of special events for a nonprofit trade organization. As co-chair of Young Del Mar committee Sandra hopes to continue Kelley Huggett's legacy of bringing memorable and unique events to Del Mar families. She is currently PTA president at Del Mar Hills elementary school and a member of the National Charity League.

Ira Sharp and his wife Rose Ann lived for 27 years in Washington D.C. They have two children and one grandchild. Del Mar won their hearts and became their new home after experiencing the village atmosphere and its great people.

At the Del Mar Foundation, Ira serves as the chair of Grants committee and as a member of the Development and Cultural Arts committees. He is also chair of Del Mar City's Traffic and Parking Advisory Committee and has been nominated by Dave Roberts for the San Diego County Civil Service Commission.
Community BBQ
Community BBQ Celebrating Shores Park
DMCC and DMF partner for a fun lunch

We took advantage of the City of Del Mar's recent "Plan Your Park" celebration (May 2) to co-host a community BBQ with Del Mar Community Connections, our sister nonprofit and partner in the Del Mar Community Building. It was great to see such a big turnout from our community, full of creative ideas for the Shores Park master plan, and enjoying hamburgers and hot dogs under the lovely Torrey Pine that shades the DMCB's parking lot. Thanks to everyone who pitched in to produce the lunch, and to share your aspirations for Shores Park!
