Kiwanis Club of Arlington Supports APAH, Safety Net Nonprofits

APAH is honored by to receive a generous grant from the Kiwanis Club of Arlington to support our summer resident picnics and our annual Backpack & School Supply Drive. We are grateful for the Kiwanis Club's continued support for engaging and meaningful programs for young APAH residents and their families.

This month, APAH and fellow Arlington Safety Net Nonprofits met with Kiwanis Club members to discuss the impactful, cost-effective collaboration that social services nonprofits are making for residents in need throughout the County.

The Kiwanis Club is involved in numerous volunteering and community service projects with the goal to improve the lives of children both locally and worldwide. Thank you for your generosity!

APAH Honored with United Way of the National Capital Community Impact Grant

APAH is one of seven Arlington nonprofits to be awarded a Community Impact grant from the United Way of the Capital Area. Funds will support APAH residents to achieve financial independence and stability through individualized support as well as programs and partnerships focused on financial education.

On March 15th, APAH and six other Arlington grantees were announced at a ceremonial check presentation at the Arlington County Board meeting. Grant awards are part of the United Way NCA's new Community Commitment, a $10 million investment to address education, financial stability and health throughout the Washington, DC region over the next five years. Thank you to the United Way NCA for your generous support for our residents!
La Cocina Graduates Provide Healthy Meals
to APAH Residents

Earlier this month, an enthusiastic group of six women graduated from a fourteen-week culinary and language program with APAH partner La Cocina VA. In this program, they learned new cooking and English language skills while preparing healthy meals for those in need, including APAH residents at Arlington Mill Residences and Buchanan Gardens. Residents regularly complimented these chefs on the delicious, nutritious food that they cook and deliver each week.

Family, friends, partners and supporters celebrated with recent graduates and honored their hard work. Stories of faith, sacrifice and determination were shared. Organizations from around the area were happy to open their doors to welcome the new graduates to the job market. APAH is honored to be part of their success and passion for healthy food. Congratulations, graduates!
