Arlington Mill Wait-list Draws Thousands
Over 3,500 Joined the Lottery; Next Step is the Wait-list
On August 27 APAH opened the wait-list for residents applying for an apartment at Arlington Mill Residences. The new development includes efficiencies, 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments, and is set to open in January, 2014. The apartments are located near the new Arlington Mill Community Center and Glen Carlyn Park.
Applications submitted between August 27 and August 31 were entered into a lottery which determined the order of applications on the wait-list. Applications will now be processed in the order in which they are received. Since opening the wait-list last Tuesday the leasing office has received 3,550 waitlist applications, 949 of which were hand-delivered on the first day. "While we are pleased with the amount of interest the development has received, the overwhelming volume of applications submitted in recent days demonstrates the continued unmet need for affordable housing in Arlington," said APAH President/CEO Nina Janopaul.

APAH Celebrates "10 Homes for Marbella"
Project Provides Housing for Individuals Coming Out of Homelessness
On September 20 APAH will honor Arlington County, the Arlington Community Foundation, and John Shooshan for their contributions to "10 Homes for Marbella", a $1 million private/public partnership to house the most vulnerable members of the Arlington community--residents making less than 30% of the Area Median Income. The Arlington County Board provided $500,000 for the project, which was matched by the Arlington Community Foundation. APAH owns Marbella Apartments, located in Rosslyn, in the Radnor/Fort Myer Heights neighborhood. This is part of Arlington's 100 Homes Campaign to End Homelessness.
In addition to the APAH Resident Services Program, permanent services for physical and mental health, finances, and employment will be operated by the County Department of Human Services' Permanent Supportive Housing Program. An initiative of Arlington County's 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness, the program will aid individuals identified through the County's 100 Homes Program.
The event is open to the public; a resident picnic will follow.
