The UI was honored with a record number of 14 Fulbright student awardees. The students will use their grants to conduct research, pursue creative projects, and serve as English teaching assistants abroad in 2016-17. Read their stories here.

Study Abroad Outreach Assistant to receive 2016 Dean's Achievement Award
UI senior Caitlyn Kavan was awarded the Dean's Achievement Award for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, presented by the Center for Diversity and Enrichment. Since the beginning of her time at the University of Iowa, she's been an advocate for refugees, a student athlete, a member of seven multicultural student organizations, and an on-campus facilitator for discussions about breaking racial stereotypes. ReCap: WorldCanvass show "Big Data: Big Brother or Big Sister?"
On its final program of the 2015-2016 season, WorldCanvass tackled informatics-also known as big data. As a highlighted event of the UI's first Informatics Week, guests from the diverse fields of computer science, medicine, sociology, public health, and geographical and sustainability sciences discussed the proliferation of big data and their attempts to both understand and utilize this massive and, in many ways, untamed digital resource.
