"Earnest is exactly the kind of show that Hart House does extremely well...there's some strong acting and moments of outstanding chemistry here..." -Mooney on Theatre
"I loved this play...It was well-acted by the entire cast, all of whom obviously trusted in the guidance of their director. I think the play came together beautifully. This just might be my favourite Hart House production to date!" -Theatre Isn't Dead
"Charming and witty, hilarious and enjoyable, the cast kept the audience entertained, never breaking character even as they walked off the stage. The Importance of Being Earnest is a winning comedy, fit for audiences of every time period." -The Varsity

The star of our acclaimed production of King Lear, returns this fall to play Shakespeare's great sorcerer, Prospero. |
We are so pleased to announce the return of one of our most beloved performers, Peter Higginson. Peter was first seen on our stage in 1975 playing the role of Mereia in Caligula. Since then, he has played several leading and supporting roles in Shakespearean plays as well as lending his talents to contemporary scripts.
Here's what the critics had to say about his performance in Lear :
"NNNN - Peter Higginson demonstrates a deep understanding of the title role" -NOW Magazine
"Peter Higginson's King Lear is incredibly expressive; he showed off Lear's turbulent emotions in a controlled yet heart-wrenching manner...all worthy of the audience's standing ovation." -The Medium
"Stage veteran Peter Higginson was the perfect Lear." -Mooney on Theatre
Peter has and continues to be a great mentor to our young, emergent company and we look forward to what will no doubt be a spectacular performance of Propsero in The Tempest.

Each year we are lucky to attract some stellar work study candidates and this season is no exception! Coco Lee and Kristian Kletke arranged to have a prize table at Sid Smith last week and gave away prizes to students while offering them the chance to join in the dress-up fun of theatre.
Congratulations to Chelsea for her winning entry! Enjoy your free tickets to see William Shakespeare's The Tempest on stage November 5-22, 2014.
Keep checking with us throughout the season for more opportunities to join our outreach work study students at Sid Smith and WIN! |
