The 22nd Annual U of T Drama Festival opens tomorrow!

The festival that once showcased the talents of Donald Sutherland takes the stage by storm.

UofT Drama FestivalEvery February, a plethora of original one-act plays compete for five coveted awards over the four nights of this adjudicated festival. The U of T Drama Festival has spawned numerous performers who have gone on to become stars of stage and screen-Ted Follows, David Gardner, Don Harron, Arthur Hiller, William Hutt and Donald Sutherland, just to name a few. Seventy-eight years since its inception in 1936, the U of T Drama Festival continues to provide a high profile showcase for up-and-coming theatrical talent and a much needed platform for talented U of T playwrights.

The Festival of Dance Is Coming

The 19th annual festival showcases dance talent from around the university.

Created 19 years ago as an avenue for dance groups on campus to perform for an audience, the Festival of Dance has grown into a celebration of the diversity and strength of the U of T dance community. Past events have featured over 60 different dance pieces, well over 200 performers and an impressive variety of dance forms including jazz, ballet, ballroom, modern, contact improv, hip hop, musical theatre, Irish, latin, and Egyptian belly dancing, just to name a few. With such an abundance of U of T dance groups, participation in the festival is a great opportunity for dancers to promote their work, interact with others and forge collaborations.
