Meet the Cast of Bone Cage
Led by the formidable Layne Coleman, this powerhouse cast opens our season in September.

Layne ColemanLAYNE COLEMAN as Clarence

Layne Coleman's contribution to the performing arts in Canada is beyond measure. His career as an actor/director/writer/educator resulted in an astounding list of credentials. Through his work with Theatre Passe Muraille, Factory Theatre, Tarragon Theatre and Canadian Stage, he has shaped the indie-theatre scene in Toronto!  Hart House Theatre is thrilled to have Layne on board for our season opener and we're proud to know that our emergent talent will have the opportunity to work with, and be mentored by, an artist of such caliber.

Nathan BittonNATHAN BITTON as Jamie

Nathan makes his debut at Hart House Theatre, but as a graduate of the theatre program at the University of Toronto and a graduate of Sheridan College's acting program, he is no stranger to the campus or the Toronto theatre scene. Playing the volatile dreamer in Bone Cage, Nathan is poised on the brink of his professional career.

Samantha CoyleSAMANTHA COYLE as Chicky

Playing Jamie's tough-as-nails sister, Samantha Coyle makes her debut at Hart House Theatre.  After training and working in New York City, Samantha has starred in many film projects and has made a splash on the Fringe scene.

Lindsey MiddletonLINDSEY MIDDLETON as Krista

After performing in the Hart House Players' production of Rhyme, Reason or Otherwise, and completing her degree with the University of Toronto's joint training program with Sheridan College, Lindsey returns to Hart House Theatre to play Jamie's devoted (if somewhat misled) fiance, Krista.

The Siminovitch Prize in Theatre

Hart House Theatre is proud to host this prestigious awards event

The following is borrowed from the Siminovich Prize website:

Siminovich Prize LogoToday the Siminovitch Prize in Theatre announced new partnerships with the University of Toronto and the RBC Foundation to support Canada's largest theatre award, the 2013 Siminovitch Prize in Theatre. The Siminovitch Prize will be awarded October 21, 2013 at Hart House Theatre at the University of Toronto, organizers announced today...

...Created in 2001, the Siminovitch Prize in Theatre recognizes excellence in direction, playwriting and design on a three-year cycle and goes to an artist who is deemed to be in mid-career. Accordingly, the 2013 Siminovitch Prize will be awarded to a professional director. The $100,000 award allows the recipient to take his/her craft to the next level of accomplishment, while encouraging a next generation artist by allocating $25,000 of the prize money to a protg of the recipient's choice. This year's Protg Prize is generously supported by the RBC Emerging Artist Project.

In Memorium

Hart House Theatre fondly remembers Luella Massey

On July 15, 2013, Luella Massey - stage manager, administrator and confidante of many - passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Hart House Theatre remembers her staunch support of the arts on campus, her unfailing guidance to students and fellow staff members and her tenacious spirit that we all depended on to get the job done with flair and panache.

She will be dearly missed. Visit Lou's online memorial here >>
