Church leaders are those who are called and boldly step forward trusting that God will use them to guide the body of Christ toward becoming the church she was created to be.

FUMC Allen is blessed with bold and dedicated leaders that endeavor to make our vision a reality.

Our recently approved vision is to embrace all generations in a life-Christian journey to change the world.

Just last Saturday, our new Administrative Council gathered for our annual leadership rally and orientation to consider how FUMC will be more like God created us to be by December 31, 2015.  At the forefront of the conversation was our new strategic plan, or stepping stones,  and how God has laid before us the path forward. The Vision 2020 action teams assemble this Sunday and will work to clarify the plan.

Conversation at the rally also included how we can further galvanize the teamwork of laity and staff.  It was a fruitful morning thanks to our Lay Leader, Brock Fairchild and Administrative Council Chair, Holly Stephens.

During the sanctuary worship services on January 18, we will consider Christ's call upon the lives of the disciples and how that call transcends the ages and has become our call. It is our call to follow Christ and in turn to go and do as Christ has done and taught. We will have the opportunity to pray for our leaders as they guide the way towards reaching our full potential in loving God and serving our neighbor.

We are a blessed church to have such a committed team of leaders.  Express your gratitude. Offer your assistance. Pray for them.

See you Sunday?

TH

XYZ Birthday Luncheon

On January 15, 48 XYZ (Xtra Years of Zest) members attended their annual birthday celebration luncheon in the Fellowship Hall at their new 11:30am start time.

Guests enjoyed baked chicken, pasta salad, rolls, birthday cake, and ice cream!  Balloons and colorful table decorations helped set the mood.

Guest speaker Pete Wallace shared how to start the research on your family genealogy. He provided pointers on where to look and what to look for. His best advice:

  • Don't make assumptions.
  • Start with accurate current living generation information.
  • Grandma may not have had an accurate memory!

Thank you to everyone who helped contribute to this wonderful time of fellowship and learning.

To learn more about the XYZ, contact Karen Griffith.
