The Way, FUMC Allen's 11:00am teaching service, celebrates its first birthday this Sunday by kicking off with a new series, Hearts for Holiness: Our Methodist Heritage.

 

Join us after the service for cake and punch outside the doors of Fellowship Hall.

 

If you haven't attended this service on Sundays at 11:00am, The Way is a "traditional plus" worship service of biblical and historical teaching wrapped in rich liturgy, prayer, and music.

 

"We are grateful for the support of FUMC Allen," said Rev. Brian McPherson, "and look forward to many more years of The Way.

GREETERS WANTED

Stop by the sign-up table on Sunday, September 14, to visit with our greeter coordinator, Peggy Breeze, and learn how easy it is to serve as a greeter once a month for just 20 minutes. Contact Rev. Maxie Moore.

 

 

ON DECK
Sixth Grade Overnight

  

Our first sixth grade On Deck overnight is coming up September 19-20. This event is for current sixth graders and chaperones only.

We begin the evening at Main Event in Plano with parent drop off at 8:00pm (We'll begin check in at 7:45pm). After laser tag, video games and bowling, we return to the church for a game of Grog.

 

Parents pick up at 8:00am on Saturday morning at the church.

 

A $30 fee for the event covers unlimited laser tag, bowling, a $10 video game card, two pieces of pizza, and a soft drink plus a light breakfast on Saturday morning.

 

Parents willing to chaperone may join us at no cost.

Please be sure to print and complete a 2014 Medical Release Form if your sixth grader plans to attend.

YOUTH UNiTY meets TODAY from 5:30pm-8:00pm at Suncreek UMC. Enjoy dinner, worship, and games with youth from FUMC Allen, Suncreek UMC, and Creekwood UMC. Bring canned goods for Allen Community Outreach and a little healthy youth ministry competition. $5/person.

SENIOR ADULTS: The Xtra Years of Zest (XYZ) meet at 12:00pm, in Fellowship Hall for a sing-a-along of gospel music and hymns with Rusty King & Brian McPherson. Menu: sandwiches, chips, dessert, and drinks. $5/person. Contact Karen Griffith.

 

 

 

Church_Hiker Hallelujah Hikers

The Hallelujah Hikers recreational hiking group has had a change of plans for their local hike on September 20. The Plano Balloon Festival is being held at Oak Point Park on September 19-21 so we will not be able to hike  the trails during this ticketed event.

 

Instead, the group has moved their hike to the trails around White Rock Lake. They'll meet at FUMC church at 7:15am at the East Entrance under the green awning to carpool to the lake. The hike should end at 10:00am.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL CLINIC. Take your game to the next level with a training course designed for 7th and 8th grade boys preparing for their basketball team tryouts. Enjoy an evening of food, fellowship, and music on September 28, featuring the Chancel Choir, Resonate Praise Team, DARING Youth Choir, Carillon Bells, and special guests, the Spring Creek Gospel Band and Tim McLemore. DARING TO HOPE WOMEN'S CONFERENCE: Abingdon author Melissa Spoelstra comes to FUMC Allen, 9:30am-3:00pm, to teach from her new Bible study, Jeremiah: Daring to Hope in an Unstable World. This one-day session includes worship, bible study, break-out sessions, lunch by Panera Bread, and giveaways from Abingdon Press. $32 per person. Register today at www.fumcallen.org

Military Support Group Update

 

The Military Support Group invites you to update the church's information for your loved one in the military service. 

 

We will be collecting for our Christmas stockings in October and if you would like for your service member to receive stockings, we will need their address for mailing.
