The Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer vacation and the dawn of a new season for most families in North Texas. We are returning to routines with our children/grandchildren who are back in school, watching our summer schedules coming to an end and football games returning to the television.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, is an exciting day as we each INVITE A FRIEND and get BACK TO CHURCH and BACK TO SUNDAY SCHOOL.  This day also marks the kick-off for new programing that includes Bible study and small groups all part of fall Faith Academy. We'll have information available regarding the start of Stephen Ministry training, choirs for all ages, children and youth ministry, Soul Food Café, and multiple volunteer/ministry opportunities. You'll find tables in the gathering area to help your friends and neighbors learn more about this new season of learning and growing in the faith.

We have a variety of special activities available for you to share with your friends who may not have a church home. Our sermons will address applicable life topics, our music in worship will be uplifting and meaningful, our children, youth, and adults will start new studies on Sunday and on Wednesday night, all in a friendly, casual welcoming atmosphere.

This Sunday, August 31, we're providing you in worship a special INVITE tool to help you connect with a neighbor or friend. Pass it on to someone next week, and remind them to return the card to the welcome table on September 7 for a FREE gift.  Be sure to check out our new website, www.fumcallen.org, and use it as a resource to invite others.

Will we see you in worship this Sunday?

DARING Youth Choir

Sunday, September 7, 2014

This year, DARING youth choir is presenting GODSPELL, a musical with a role for everyone!  If you sing, play an instrument, or want to be part of the crew, there's a spot for you in DARING Youth Choir.

For a few years now, the DARING summer choir tour happened during the second week in June. Those dates for 2015 might be changed to the third week of June, with the group leaving on Monday, June 15 and returning on Saturday, June 20 with the homecoming concert on Saturday, June 20. The destination of our tour remains undetermined, but we hope to decide by September 14.

Why is this important? Several of our youth serve as counselors at Youth SEEK camp. We recently learned that  Youth SEEK camp at Bridgeport is June 9-13, 2015, leaving us with one day between the two events.  With this announcement and a change in choir tour dates, many of our youth can be involved in both activities.

WE NEED YOU! Youth orchestra and DARING rehearsals begin Sunday, September 7: 3:00pm-4:00pm for orchestra and 4:00pm-5:00pm for DARING youth choir.

Won't you consider joining us for GODSPELL 2015? Contact Rev. Rusty King, 972.727.8261.
