Book Drive

Friends and family, I need your help! My summer program, Project Transformation, is doing a book drive for our youth kids on July 29!

We have about 30 youth that attend our program. We have very few books available at the moment to give to them. Our kids do not have books at home, and we want to provide that experience for them! We have some specific requests: "Divergent," "Fault in our Stars," "The Giver," "The Book Thief." Any middle school/young adult book would be greatly appreciated! Any used or new, we appreciate all you will be able to provide to our kiddos.

 
If you want to donate books to our program for our youth, please give them to my mom, Carrie Brazeal, by noon on July 27! Please let us know if you have any questions! If you would like a donation form which translates to a tax exempt slip mailed to you once processed, I can get you that paper!

A Message from Maxie Moore

I want to share that Disciple Bible Study has truly impacted my life and enabled me to become discipline in the daily reading and studying God's Word. Disciple Bible study encourages people to live as Disciples of Christ.

What is Disciple Bible Study?

• Disciple I (34 weeks): You will read about 70 percent of the Bible
• Disciple II (32 weeks): Genesis and Exodus and Luke and Acts.
• Disciple III (32 weeks): Prophets of the Ole Testament and the writings of Paul
• Disciple IV (32 weeks):  Writings of the Old Testament and the Gospel of John and Revelations

The study is designed for participants to read 20 to 30 minutes daily and come together weekly for a two-hour class time to process the readings for the week. I hope to get at least 12 persons to commit to a Disciple I class thatI will facilitate.

For graduates of Disciple, please prayerfully consider facilitating a class. Classes would begin the last of August and follow the school year!

ALL STAR SPORTS & GAMES
This recreational camp engages kids, grades K-6, in a new sport every day! Register your child in both VBS and All Star from August 4-8, pack a lunch, drop them off at 9:00am, and pick them up at 4:30pm. $70 fee includes a T-shirt. Contact Greg Schell, GregS@fumcallen.org.

SENIOR ADULT LUNCHEON
Volunteers are needed to help set up and serve at the Allen Ministerial Alliance senior adult luncheon on August 12 at St. Jude Catholic Church when FUMC Allen is responsible for hosting. Setup begins 9:30am. Bring the family! If you cannot attend, we are accepting donations of home-baked cookies or brownies. Upcoming Sermon Series
Join us at 11:00am on July 27 when The Way welcomes Dr. Tom McFaul, author, teacher and theologian. Dr. McFaul will lead us in a four-week series based on his book, "GOD IS HERE TO STAY," a new conversation between faith and science. Fill The Bus 2014

The Fill The Bus bus returns to FUMC Allen on Sunday, August 10 as we prepare for the Allen Community Outreach BACK TO SCHOOL BASH on August 16 from 9:00am-12:00pm

School supplies are on sale now so please pick up a few items every time you shop and make plans to bring them to the church from 9:00am-4:00pm, when you be greeted by our wonderful GIRL SCOUTS who will receive your donations.

UPWARD
Soccer League

Register now for our UPWARD indoor soccer league for kids 4 years old through grade 6. Teams practice once per week beginning September 22 and play six Saturday games beginning October 4. Registration closes on September 11. Contact Greg Schell, GregS@fumcallen.org.
