Upcoming Programs for Adults

Relationship Rewired with Martie & Joe Dumas
Tuesday, September 16th @ 6:30 p.m.

Spend an evening with Martie and Joe Dumas as they talk about coping with Martie's brain tumor and the effect it had on the nature of their marriage, as well as the process they went through writing a book about their experience.

Martie and Joe Dumas met in high school in Waltham, Mass and were married three years later. Joe obtained a PhD in Cognitive Psychology and had an active career as a consultant in the software industry. Martie obtained a BS in Economics and after a successful career in finance went back to school at 50 years old to obtain a Master's Degree in social work. They moved to Yarmouth Port 10 years ago, pursuing a life-long dream. They were both active professionals and worked off Cape for two years until the events they describe in their book changed everything.

Author Christopher Setterlund
Tuesday, September 29th @ 6:30 p.m.

Christopher Setterlund is a 12th generation Cape Codder whose roots are those of the Doane family, going all the way back to Deacon John Doane who helped to settle Eastham.  His book contains more than 90 spots on Cape Cod, ranging from the popular and well known locales like Nauset Beach and Chatham Lighthouse, to the hidden gems like Bound Brook Island and Scargo Tower.  Footsteps is unique in that it takes you around the Cape in geographical order, allowing you to see as many of these beautiful places in as little time as possible.

These programs are free, and books will be available for purchase and signing. Please call 508-362-6636 to register or email Antonia.

Time to Plan for Hydrangea Festival 2016!

Great Gardens of

Barnstable/West Barnstable/Yarmouth Port

Calling all gardeners-large and small, seaside and shady, classic or unique!

Did you read about all the many festivities surrounding the first annual Hydrangea Week on Cape Cod?

Sturgis Library is contemplating joining the Hydrangea Week Garden Tour festivities for July 2016! With the support of our gardening friends, we would love to bring some of the special gardens of our historic area to Cape residents and visitors. If you would consider opening your garden for the education and praise of fellow gardeners, and to support Sturgis Library's community, we would love to hear from you.

We can promise to handle all details of the tour. We would love to chat with you this summer, however, and tour your garden in preparation for the 2016 tour.

If you would consider discussing a tour of your garden, please contact either the library at (508) 362-6636 or via e-mail at sturgislibrary@comcast.net.   Questions? Please call Liz Ferretti at (508)362-6546 for more details.
