Plant and Garden Sale June 6th

Sturgis Library presents their

Annual Plant and Garden Sale

Saturday, June 6th, 2015 from 9 to 2

Don't forget to shop the Sturgis Library Plant and Garden Sale on June 6th!  The sale will feature vegetables, herbs, flowers, shrubs, tools, books, birdfeeders, decorative items and more.

Representatives from the Cape Cod Food Hub will also be on hand with a garden-related activity for kids and their parents.

We need your donations of plants and garden-related items!

Last year's popular items included vegetables, herbs, flowers, hosta, flowering geraniums, iris, butterfly bush, hydrangea and Solomon's seal. What's in your garden that you'd be willing to share?

We are also looking for gently used gardening tools, ornaments,

furniture, birdfeeders, and gardening books, as well as decorative pots and baskets.

Please wait to donate plants until May 25th, but we're happy to accept

other garden items at any time.

Sturgis *little free* Library

The Sturgis *little free* Library is back up in Barnstable Village!

After a mishap over the winter, it recuperated in the repair shop for a few months.  It is now back up and filled with great reading.

Many thanks to Steve Hukalowicz for his work on repairing and reinstalling the Sturgis *little free* Library!

We rely on your donations to stock the *little free* Library.  You can drop of your gently used books, movies on DVD or Blu-Ray, music CDs, and other items at the Library during regular hours.

Sturgis Library Expands Genealogical Resources

Sturgis Library has recently become the newest FamilySearch affiliate library.  This designation means that Library patrons will have greater and more convenient access to the wealth of genealogical resources available through FamilySearch-the world's largest repository of free genealogical records and the manager of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Users can order microfilm of the Family History Library's resources and have it sent to Sturgis Library to use.

For more information on ordering microfilm, visit our website at http://www.sturgislibrary.org/familysearch-affiliate-library/

Researchers are welcome to access their FamilySearch materials any time the Library is open.  We suggest you make a reservation to use the microfilm reader to ensure availability.  Printouts are 20 cents per page.  Call the library at 508-362-6636 to reserve the reader or for additional information.

Memorial and Honorary Donations

Have you considered making a donation to Sturgis Library in honor of or in memory of a loved one, friend, or important person in your life?

An honorary gift not only pays tribute to a special person, but is a great way to give a gift to someone who loves books and libraries while also supporting Sturgis Library.  They will receive a letter from the Library letting them know about the gift.  The donation will also be highlighted in our annual report.

A memorial gift pays tribute to a friend or loved one who has passed away.  We acknowledge the gift to the family as well as to you.

To find out more about memorial and honorary donations visit our website at  http://www.sturgislibrary.org/memorial-and-honorary-donations/ or call Lucy at 508-362-6636.

Join the Parade!

Over the years Sturgis Library has had great fun participating in the Barnstable Village 4th of July Parade!  We've dressed up as pirates, wheeled a giant cupcake through town on a wagon, and last year we wore Kurt Vonnegut mustaches and played kazoos!  What will it be this year?

And we need YOU!  If you're interested in marching in or helping out with the Sturgis Library's parade presence, we'd love to have you.  All ages welcomed, from babies to seniors!  The Library represents the whole community and we want to celebrate that with you.

Please contact us at sturgislibrary@comcast.net or call us at 508-362-6636 and leave your contact information.  A member of our parade committee will get back to you.
