Sunday February 8th, 2015 @ 2 pm:

Sea Stories by Steve Whitmore and Sue Angus

Our stories are old.  We sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on October 1, 1995, crossed the Pacific, made our way to New Zealand and Australia, stopped at many islands in Indonesia, enjoyed Singapore, and spent a year in Malaysia and Thailand.  We crossed the Indian Ocean, and went up the Red Sea to the Mediterranean.   Our cruising experiences preceded 9/11, when everything changed.  But what an adventure we had.

On Sunday, February 8th at 2:00 pm we will talk about Pilgrim, our 38 foot cutter-rigged sail boat. We will talk about the preparations for our trip, our itinerary, the dangers, the weather, the safety equipment.  We have lots of pictures and even more stories.

March 8th, 2015 at 2 pm:

Elizabeth Payne in Maui

We know that many of our patrons are seasoned travelers, so if you have a journey of your own that you would like to share, please contact Karen at 508-362-6636.

Willie Fielder started sewing in the late 1980's when her daughters were little. She moved on to quilts after taking a class in East Aurora, New York.

Willie opened a quilt shop and Viking sewing machine dealership in December 1994 with a partner. Her partner left the business in 1995. Not wanting to say "what if," Willie and her husband husband got the shop going. He would do the machine repair and she handled sales.  It was becoming a destination shop when her husband was transferred to Cape Cod in 1999.

When they moved to the Cape, her quilts had a very traditional color palette - cranberry, hunter green, and navy, almost bordering on primitive. Over the years, that palette has expanded to include all colors. She loves putting black in her quilts. It can be a very unifying color. She still considers herself a traditional quilter. She likes working with traditional patterns using very modern colors and prints.

She is in awe of people who can finish one project before moving on to another. She is very easily distracted and gets excited when she sees a new fabric, tool or technique. Therefore, she has a tendency to have a lot of UFOs - unfinished objects.

Since coming to the Cape, she started working and teaching at Tumbleweed Quilt Shop in West Barnstable. She gets to have the fun without all the headaches of being the shop owner.

If she leaves one legacy when she goes, it's:

There are no mistakes....only design opportunities.
