So, for me, the most significant event in this season is the return of the light. It is the Winter Solstice where the sun reaches its perigee and where the light in the Northern hemisphere is the least that it will be. It marks the end of a cycle and a beginning of a new cycle: the return of the light and the rise of the xylem and the phloem and the trees and the return of the leaves and the plants and another growing season for all of life in the Northern hemisphere...and that is, you know, what we celebrate at the Solstice, what we call the Festival of Lights.
