I spent time this past weekend with 17 individuals who are hungry to learn more about how they can improve their coaching competence. To be in that energy of excitement and yearning was exhilarating!  Then, I started thinking about the coaches in our ICF-NJ community and if this same level of excitement exists, so I decided to focus the message this month on this topic.

Do you still have that fire in your belly to coach and/or have a coaching business? Are you still hungry to learn more and to improve your coaching, or have you become complacent? Have you silently given up or thrown in the towel for achieving the goals you once had for your coaching practice?

Of course there are CCEUs that you complete every three years to maintain your credentials, and yet, what are you doing to sustain the excitement? And if your excitement is gone, what robbed you of the joy you once had to make a difference in the lives of others?

Purpose and belief! These awesome men and women reminded me that when coaches are clear about their purpose, believe that there is someone out there looking for exactly what they have to offer, and excited about making a difference ... that keeps the fire in the belly alive. This mindset helps coaches pick up the phone to make calls, attend networking events, partner with other coaches, speak in front of groups, and invite people to work with them. What will you do differently within the next 30 days to increase your level of excitement?

To help with that, ICF-NJ will have a couple of new and premier member conference calls in July to ensure that you are aware of all the benefits available to you and answer your questions. Check your inbox within the next week for details.

ICF-NJ is excited to be a part of your support system and looks forward to having you at future events!

Wishing you GREAT success!
Take care,
Jennifer Smith, PCC
2015 ICF-NJ President

Feeling Resistance to Doing Social Media?

by Louise Crooks

It's perhaps more common than you might think!

If you're feeling some resistance to doing it - you are definitely NOT alone.

Let's get you inspired, and CLEAR on how you can use Social Media as a POWERFUL marketing strategy in your coaching business.

Here are a few reasons why you might be feeling resistant:

1)  Doing something that feels technologically out of your depth and overwhelming.

2) Fear of privacy and security issues (putting yourself out there can feel very vulnerable).

3) It just feels like you're playing and not getting down to business.

4) It's a time drain, and you can't see how to make it work - it's not producing results. (Black hole, anyone?)

5) Not sure how it would benefit your coaching business specifically.

6) You'd rather be connecting face-to-face in networking groups; can't see the benefit of connecting on-line.

7) You'd just prefer to stick to what you know.

Networking means so much more than just an in-person connection.  It ALSO means you're networking online but still making those individual connections.

If you're limiting yourself to networking in-person, then you're missing out big time!

Social media gives you a chance to expand your reach beyond your local geographic borders, leverage your ways of connecting, and help you FIND YOUR IDEAL CLIENTS in a VERY TARGETED manner.

Consider when you're networking in person.

Take into account the time it takes you to go to a networking event, the cost involved, and then ask yourself if you're actually hanging out in a group filled with your ideal clients?

Now think about the time you spend on Facebook or LinkedIn.  Many of us are resistant to the idea of spending even an hour on these platforms - but hear me out.

If you're interacting and connecting with folks who are ALL your ideal clients for that hour - would you see that as valuable networking time? If you were building relationships and having relevant conversations with them, would you see it as valuable networking interaction?

Does the fact that you don't need to leave the house or office, or spend any time on commuting or money on gas and entrance to that networking meeting, make a difference?

Does it make a difference that this group you're connecting in, on Facebook or LinkedIn, is full of your ideal clients, as opposed to a handful (if that) of them in the in-person meeting?

I'm guessing at this point that you're saying yes, Yes, YES!!

If there is a shift in perception on how you view 'networking' I think we have a breakthrough!

Just think, you're more likely to find your IDEAL clients, connect with MORE people without leaving your home /office, and even create more income streams.

Are you ready to step into using ONE of the Social Media strategies to do some really targeted marketing in your business, so you can find your IDEAL clients and do it with EASE?

I can't wait to dive into the key strategies it takes to leverage Social Media in your coaching business on July 14th when I'll be teaching a teleclass on this topic! Check it out HERE for more juicy information.

While you're at it, how about rating your level of resistance?

Very simply, rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being SUPER RESISTANT and 10 being NOT RESISTANT ALL, or anywhere in-between. Share your results and thoughts on my blog- http://keystoclarity.com/socialmediaresistance

I hope you're ready to make that Social Media leap!
