Happy April! Spring is officially here and it looks like the weather will align with the season soon. Can you believe we had snow on the first day of Spring? This month we are excited to talk about activities that have been blooming in our Chapter in preparation for International Coaching Week. We invite you to get involved as we have events for those who want to coach to help increase the awareness of coaching along with events that will promote coaches. The week runs from May 18 - 23 this year, and we will kick off the activities a little early with our first event. Activity Highlights May 14th - Jersey Shore Association of Human Resources: ICF-NJ coaches will represent the Chapter during this breakfast meeting to talk about coaching and promote our Chapter as a go to resource if any of their members are looking for coaches. May 19th - Dress for Success (DFS) in Morris County: We will facilitate a brief workshop and then offer group coaching for DFS attendees. If you have been thinking about giving back or doing pro-bono work, this is a great way to make an impact on the lives of women. May 20th - ICF-NJ Monthly Event: An in-person event is being planned for this evening so be on the lookout for additional details. The evening will be full of food, networking, and opportunity sharing discussions. May 21st & 22nd - C3 Workplace Laser Coaching: We will offer laser coaching sessions to small business owners who rent workspace at C3's Montclair and Sparta locations. Whereas anyone can participate, this may be of particular interest to business coaches who want to expand their network and possibly walk away with a lead or two. We would LOVE to have you participate, so mark your calendar and send an email to Tony Calabrese (tony@absolutetransitions.com) so that he can add you to the list. This year's core planning team consists of Tony Calabrese, Eileen Mansfield, and Eileen Monesson. ICF-NJ is excited to be a part of your support system and look forward to having you at future events!
Wishing you GREAT success!
Take care,
Jennifer Smith, PCC

The Top 4 Reasons to Upgrade your QuickBooks Software
Laura Melville, C3Workplace Director of
Accounting Support Services
| |
Did you know that on May 31st, services like Payroll and Support will be discontinued in QuickBooks 2012? I think some of you may find yourself in the market for a QuickBooks Upgrade! So, how is QuickBooks 15 different from QuickBooks 12? Luckily, you've come to the right place!
- Layout
First off, QuickBooks 15 (QB15) has a nice new look. This makes it much easier to use on different devices, such as tablets or even smart phones. QB15 is much more visual and provides graphs and other visuals that you can even print and use in reports. - ReportsEver look at the Profit and Loss and have questions for your accountant? More than likely you would jot those questions down on a piece of paper (and probably lose them before the meeting). In QB15, you now have the ability to click one button marked "Comments" and it will allow you to notate comments/questions, line by line, right on the report. You can then print or PDF that report, for use in your meeting/call with your accountant!
Not only do you have more options in your reports, but now the reports even look better. They are shaded, making them easier to read line by line. When they are printed or scanned the look is much cleaner for use in reviews. - Email IntegrationHow many of you need to send multiple reports via email at the end of the month? We know that process can be a little time-consuming. In QB15 you now have the ability to send multiple reports in a single email. Rather than saving each report and attaching separately, you can do it all at once!
- NavigationThe left-hand side of the QB15 home page now brings you directly to several parts of the software. How convenient! Here is a quick map of what's included:
- Home - this is where you will find the Insights tab that contains graphs and visual reports mentioned above.
- My Company - basic company information, and some useful app opportunities listed at the bottom.
- Income Tracker - New ways to sort and manage transactions to save time and keystrokes.
- Calendar - very handy if you would like to organize your to-do list and due dates. etc.
- Snapshots - each QuickBooks user can customize their "snapshots" to include graphs, reports, vendor screens, customer screens etc. It's each user's own dashboard of reports.
- Bank Feeds - where you would set up your banking information to be downloaded from the bank.
- Docs - a section where you can scan and store documents for easy retrieval from within your QuickBooks file.
- Customize Shortcuts - create shortcuts for tasks you most often perform in QuickBooks.
- View Balances - provides a quick look at certain categories you want to see at the push of a button. For example, you could set it so that all of your bank account balances are shown, or your Accounts Payable list, etc.
- Run Favorite Reports - allows you to customize and save all of your most frequently run reports.
Hopefully after reviewing the above, you'll be comfortable in your upgrade to QuickBooks 15. If not, keep in mind there are other products offered by QuickBooks that may be better suited for your needs: QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Self-employed, etc. Now might be a good time to do some research and see which would work best for you. And if you're unsure, I always recommend seeking the advice of a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor.
Want to chat some more? Join me in our Montclair location on the 3rd Friday of every month for a free 25-minute consult (face to face OR virtual) during our Office Hours with Expert Advisors! I look forward to seeing you there! Don't forget to take advantage of your complimentary 30-minute bookkeeping assessment. Contact me now to get started!
