Goucher Builds
For many years, Goucher Hillel has sponsored alternative spring break trips to other areas of the country and the world so that our students can take part in tikkun olam, fixing the world. This year, we are bringing the focus home to Baltimore with Goucher Builds. Goucher Builds is a year-long experience (2012-2013) culminating in a multifaith service-learning program in Baltimore City over spring break with a focus on housing issues. As members of Goucher Builds, students will volunteer with Habitat for Humanity in the Sandtown neighborhood.  Participants will have a high degree of input in the planning of the trip, choosing among amazing speakers, tours and resources. Through this trip, students will learn about issues of housing and homelessness from key community leaders, explore the intersections of faith and social justice, and gain the skills to become agents for change during their time at Goucher College and beyond.
YAD B' YAD (HAND-IN-HAND) $35,000 CHALLENGE MATCHING GRANT
Goucher Hillel has raised
$88,000 this year,
and needs $68,000
to reach our goal of $155,000
Please join Goucher Hillel's Board of Directors in the YAD B' YAD (HAND-IN-HAND) $35,000 CHALLENGE MATCHING GRANT.  The members of our board have generously pledged $35,000 as a dollar for dollar match to help us raise an additional $35,000 toward our Annual Campaign goal for fiscal year 2013.  By making a gift of $250 (minimum gift to qualify for a matching donor gift) or more, you have the unique opportunity to do a "double mitzvah" as your dollars are matched by our board members. We hope you will participate to help us get closer to our goal for the year.
Thank you for your ongoing support! Please help support our annual campaign to strengthen Jewish life on Goucher's Campus.

How did you get involved in Hillel?
I went to the first services of the year and Eli [Hillel Co-President] happened to be asking people to join the board, so I did it; I was a part of my high school's youth group and Goucher Hillel seemed like a very welcoming place, so I decided to join.

What has been your favorite activity so far?
The first-year event [sleepover in Hillel on Sep. 29] was really fun. I was able to meet and get to know more new students. I was even able to explain Sukkot and impart some of my knowledge to some first-years who aren't Jewish.

What does Hillel mean to you?
Just being part of a close knit community, where the people have my same values and want to share them.

What are some of your hobbies?
I love to walk around and explore. I am grateful that Goucher is such a beautiful campus and there are trails that I can go on and wander.
