Latino Networking Luncheon
Thank you to Dr. Marisa Pereyra, Associate Professor of Global Languages, who provided a summary of the Latino Luncheon held at IU on October 2. Noticias Univision covered the Latino Luncheon Event, where the non-profit organization announced that starting in 2016, Latino Luncheon will offer a $1500 scholarship to a Latino student who is from Chester County and is a first generation college student in the family. Dr. Pereyra clarified that all Latinos, independent of their legal status, are welcome at IU; not only welcome, but also are candidates for multiple scholarships. "In a time where doors are being closed for Latinos, IU opens theirs for all of them." Student Stephanie Davalos (ACC/FIN '16) added that for her, IU is important because it delivers "moral values that, together with excellence in academic and ethical integrity, allow us to [take] our first step to work in a world that is diverse and always changing."
