Duffy's Cut: Remains of 1832 U.S. Murder Victim Returned to Ireland for Burial
Duffy's Cut is the infamous railroad worksite where nearly 60 Irish laborers were killed in 1832. Some succumbed to an outbreak of cholera, but many of them are believed to have been massacred in a violent attempt to stop the spread of the disease.
Dr. William Watson, professor of history at Immaculata, along with a few other members of the Duffy's Cut team traveled to Ireland recently for a proper funeral and burial of the remains they found of a woman murdered in America 183 years ago. Read more from the article in the Derry Journal, here.
