A Note from the Office of Alumni Relations

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Immaculata! Even though we didn't see Mommy kissing Santa Claus under the tree, there's been plenty happening here on the hill.

The Weather Outside Was Frightful for Immaculata's 93rd Celebration of Carol Night on Friday, December 6. But inside, the rotunda was so delightful! The students came a-wassailing as the musicians made a joyful noise with sounds of the season. Sister Marie Hubert Kealy, IHM '57, said it best in the Carol Night Program:

"Across the years, songs in many languages have enriched our American heritage, but it is usually the old favorites, 'O Holy Night' and 'Silent Night,' that most eloquently proclaim Christmas at Immaculata."

Special thanks to Immaculata's music department and students for making the evening so special.

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree
Congratulations to Jim Malinowski '09 and Erin Rogers '10, who got engaged under the Christmas Tree after Carol Night this year. Best wishes to the happy couple!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year for our students - final exams are complete, and many of our students are Home for the Holidays to Deck the Halls with their families.

We are grateful to the many alumni, parents and friends who have supported us this year, including our board members, volunteers, and the many guests who have made our programs so exciting and memorable. Thank you for all you do for Immaculata, and we look forward to seeing you in 2014.

To all of our Immaculata Family,
Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas!

There's No Place Like the Dome for the Holidays

On Wednesday, December 11th, Immaculata welcomed prospective students to campus for an opportunity to Experience Immaculata at Christmas. Attendees were invited to view Immaculata's beautiful Christmas decorations, and listened to carols. Current students provided lantern-lit tours of the campus and its Christmas lights. Don't forget, alumni can help prospective undergraduate students by signing an Alumni Endorsement Form. Information about the Alumni Endorsement Grant, as well as the required form, can be found on the Financial Aid website.

A Wonderful Christmastime was had by all at Student Development & Engagement's First Friday event after Carol Night. Students and their guests enjoyed snacks and warm beverages, some Jingle Bell Rock, and overall Christmas Cheer!

It's been a Winter Wonderland here on campus, with the recent snow storms bringing a blanket of fresh snow to the landscape. No snow in your area? Not to worry! Visit the University Communication website to download wallpaper images for your computer!

Do You Hear What I Hear? It's the sound of Mighty Mac fans cheering on their favorite team! The winter season is in full swing. Come out and cheer on our Mighty Macs!  For scores and schedules, visit the Mighty Macs online here.

Immaculata Trivia
Did You Know...
(From "The History of Immaculata University's Carol Night" by Sister Marie Hubert Kealy, IHM '57)

Carol Night is the oldest and best-loved tradition at Immaculata. Every year since 1921, when the first class gathered to sing carols by the light of bayberry candles, faculty, students, alumni and friends of the University have saluted Christmas with candlelight and song.

Did You Notice...
How many Christmas Carols were referenced in this email? (An extra entry will be given to those who can name them all!)

Correct answers will be entered into a monthly drawing for a prize; don't forget to include your contact information!
Congratulations!
Hearty congratulations to Dr. Joan Moriarty '70, winner of November's Trivia Contest!
