FROM THE GROUND UP
THE BUILDING MANAGEMENT NEWSLETTER
Stanford has added three traffic roundabouts in recent years to help with circulation flow and to improve safety.  Two more roundabouts will be added over the summer.  One location is the intersection of Galvez Street and Campus Drive, near the Visitor's Center.  Work has begun at that site.  The other new roundabout will be located at Serra Street and Campus Drive.  The Campus Valero Service station closed in late May.  The station's ten year lease ends in July and the university chose not to renew the lease.  There has been a gas station at that location since the 1960s.  After the service station site has been cleared, work will begin on the Serra traffic roundabout.

California is still in a state of drought. Back in June, 2015, Provost Etchemendy issued a letter detailing Stanford's response to the drought.  These actions are still in place, although, during this ever changing drought, Stanford is collaborating with San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) and the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) as they develop new regulations that better reflect the current situation.  So please continue to save water and report any leaks you see on campus to the Operations Center - 723-2281.

Save the date for the next Building Manager Training, scheduled for September 15, 9:30 am.  The training topic will be Energy Use and Savings on Campus.  More details to come over the summer.

You might notice this edition of From the Ground Up is late from the normal first of the month delivery.  We chose to send it on July 5th, since so many are out of the office to get a jump on the 4th of July holiday.  Whatever you decide to do to celebrate, be safe and enjoy the day!
