June 2016
FROM THE GROUND UP
THE BUILDING MANAGEMENT NEWSLETTER
Commencement events begin one week from Thursday with Senior Dinner on the Quad.  Another class of eager, thoughtful seniors, will be let loose upon the world.  This is the reason why we work for Stanford.  Commencement 2016 will be the last graduation that John Hennessy will attend as Stanford's president. Just think, President Hennessy shook hands with over 20,000+ graduating students over the past 15 years.   Filmmaker Ken Burns will be the 2016 Commencement speaker.

The e-brochure provides a comprehensive description of all Commencement Weekend activities.  For more details visit the Commencement website.

On June 13, summer construction starts in earnest.  Utility projects to upgrade our infrastructure, Zone Management projects for system renewals and on-going construction for new buildings schedule some of the most disruptive work to be completed before New Student Orientation, September 20th.  I suggest that you subscribe to HEADS UP to keep up.   Heads Up is a weekly newsletter to inform the campus of LBRE construction activity.  It provides you with strategies to navigate safely and highlights road and parking area closures due to construction.   Be safe - HEADS UP

Stanford's Summer Youth Camps also begin in June. Volleyball, science, soccer, digital media, whatever the interest, Summer Camps have it covered. Students can choose from over 20 youth sports camps and 30 youth academic programs, available to students age 7-18. Visit their website  for more information.

Congratulations to the class of 2016!
