April 2016
FROM THE GROUND UP
THE BUILDING MANAGEMENT NEWSLETTER
April brings Admit Weekend.  This event, running Thursday, April 28th through Saturday, April 30th, brings students admitted to Stanford, class of 2020, to learn about opportunities during their four years on the farm. Stanford offered admission to 2,063 students, including 745 applicants who were accepted last December through the early action program. A schedule of events is posted here.

What Matters to Me and Why, features President John Hennessy this month. This popular program is a presentation and discussion series featuring Stanford Faculty and Administrators addressing life questions. Held on Wednesday, April 27th at 12 noon, in Memorial Church, Stanford's retiring president will discuss his motivations as he moves into his next life chapter. Check out the website for more information.

Having your own 'next life chapter'?   Windhover is a spiritual refuge on campus, meant to both inspire and promote personal renewal. Named for the series of paintings by Nathan Oliveira that grace its walls, Windhover provides an environment for quiet reflection throughout the day for students, faculty, and staff. The space is now open from 7 am until 7 pm, to reflect campus needs and recommendations from the community. A valid Stanford ID card is required to access the building, located at 370 Santa Teresa Street.

Enjoy the spring weather - take a walk, celebrate our Earth and eat healthy!

  Take a Shorter Shower Challenge

Pick up a shower timer from Office of Sustainability during the Water Wise campaign, and see just how low your time in the shower can go. Reducing your shower time to five minutes or less can save more than 2,500 gallons of water per year.  As drought increasingly becomes the norm in California, take the shorter shower challenge and get yourself in the habit of behaving responsibly with our water!

Commit to reducing your shower time here
