THE BUILDING MANAGEMENT NEWSLETTER
|
The ranking segment of the Key Performance Indicator survey is now complete. Again, thanks to all of you that took the time to participate. We will utilize these results to better understand what our customers, Building Managers, think of building operations and maintenance services to them. Besides the ranking of each of the ten KPIs, there were also constructive comments that will direct us to areas that can be improved. We are now finalizing the survey results. Our next step will be to reach out to LBRE departments in September, to present them with the results. Then, we will develop a department wide strategy to listen and improve how we deliver KPIs to you. One way to improve is to meet with you, when applicable, to discuss comments and your suggestions. The KPI survey results will be published in the October issue of From the Ground Up.
And speaking of the autumn quarter, it is here! New Student Orientation kicks off on September 16th, and we had our first football game vs. UC Davis on Saturday, August 30th (we won, as if you didn't know already!) As more students come back to the Farm, please help pass on the HEADS UP safety messages to your staff, faculty and students - if you are lucky enough to work with students regularly. There will be a lot of construction, going on into the 2014-15 academic year and everyone needs to look up and watch their step.
During the past two weeks, there have been several reported cases of lost building master keys. The potential security and safety exposures required the re-keying of several buildings, at significant cost to the responsible departments. Don't let this happen to you or your buildings. To reduce the possibility of lost master keys for your buildings, please read and enforce the Building Key Practices for Building Managers on our BGM website.
Zone Management took a break from training in August because so many of you are getting ready for the new academic year. We hope to send an announcement for the next class for the end of September. We ALWAYS like to hear what topics you would like discussed. Please send me an email with suggestions.

National Preparedness Month
| 1906 Earthquake - Palo Alto Hotel |
National Preparedness Month is designed to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, and communities. Whether it's September or any other month of the year, disaster can strike at any time without warning. Be prepared for when - not if - the next emergency will occur.
