St. Thomas School Newsletter - December 17, 2014

Dear St. Thomas Families,

The Holidays are nearly here! The nights have been getting longer and colder and soon the Christmas Carolers will be adding their voices to the sounds of the season. The Advent wreaths in our homes serve as a visual reminder for us to prepare the way for Christ - the light of the world. As we prepare to celebrate this very sacred time of Christ's birth, we are reminded that Christmas is a time of rebirth and new hope. Jesus' life and teachings provides a road-map for navigating a world that at times can feel out of control and confusing. There is great comfort in the knowledge of God's infinite love for us all.

This Friday,December 19,  there will be a special all-school Christmas Mass. Students should wear their school uniforms. At 10:00am in the school gym, the first and second grade students will present their Christmas play, "The Christmas Cobweb". All families are welcome to attend.

Friday is also our last day before Christmas break. Please note that we have an early dismissal at 1:50pm. Please make arrangements to have your children picked up on time.

On behalf of the entire Faculty and Staff of St. Thomas School, we wish you and your families a joyous and safe Christmas and Holiday Season!

Have a blessed week.

Barry Thomas

Principal

Article_2'Twas the Night Before Christmas

Grade 3S  put on their creative Christmas hats and wrote a version of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" from the perspective of their recycle bin worms.

 ***

'Twas the Night Before Christmas

By: The Creative Minds of 3S

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the bin

All the worms were eating, and fattening their skin.

Veggies and fruit lay all around

In hopes the fruit flies would soon come to town.

The worms were all snuggled in their paper made bed

They were all fast asleep and had already been fed

Except for one who was wide awake

While reading his book he heard a 'Clank'

There was then a big shatter

To the top of the bin he looks to see what was the matter

One by one the worms came awake

To see what caused the horrible quake

In the dark shadows they see a tall figure

As it comes closer it looks even bigger!

What do they see before their eyes?

But a great surprise of eight tiny fruit flies!

The little old fliers, so lively and quick

Flew through the bin in circles and made themselves sick

Then through the bin St. Nick the worm came

He squeaked and squirmed and called them by name:

"Now, Cookie! now, Fruity! now, Slimy and Dickie! on, Wickie!

on, Rickie! on, Slicky and Dawn!

To the top of the paper! to the top of the bin!

Now fly away! Fly away with a big grin!"

They thought they heard as they flew out of sight

"Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!"
