What is Cram a Van?
Show your Maverick Spirit and help the Campus Kitchen 'Cram-A-Van' with food to support agencies addressing food insecurity among children and youth in the Mankato area.
Donated food items will be distributed to the BackPack Food Program of Feeding Our Communities Partners , the REACH Youth Drop-In Center, Campus Cupboard, and the Campus Kitchen. You can drop off food items at the Cram a Van booth on the CSU Mall Monday, Oct. 3 through Friday, Oct. 7, between 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Food donations will also be collected during the homecoming parade and football game until half-time at the Cram A Van booth. All items should be unopened, in good condition, and not expired.
What is Campus Kitchen?
Campus Kitchen is an initiative that brings colleges and universities together with student volunteers, campus dining service professionals, and community organizations to fight hunger in cities across the United States. Here at Minnesota State, Mankato, the Campus Kitchen works as a partnership between the Community Engagement Office in the Student Activities Office, and a combination of community partners. The program relies on student volunteers to see work accomplished. Campus Kitchen is located at Crossroads Lutheran Church.
How can you volunteer?
Campus Kitchen is usually full with volunteers so if you are interested contact the Community Engagement Office (CEO) about 3-4 weeks before you or a group would like to volunteer. If slots are full the Campus Kitchen staff will work with you to come up with other opportunities for you to volunteer.
Contact CEO at 507-389-5789, if you have any questions or want more information on how you can get involved. Sign up to volunteer on OrgSync.
