Planting for Wildlife

Echinacea, or cone flower, is a perennial, meaning it will come back every year. You should plant it in a sunny location with soils that drain well. This drought tolerant plant is easy to grow and will flower from summer into fall. Bees and butterflies flock to these colorful flowers.

August 2016
Happy August everyone!
Summer time and the living is easy. The garden is producing zucchini and the tomatoes are ripening up. Meanwhile, powdery mildew is finding its way to dogwoods and

lace bugs are seeking out drought stressed rhodies. Yes, it is easy living but we need to stay on top of watering the garden and raking up leaves that are falling due to weather stress.

If you let your lawn go dormant during the hot, dry months of summer, please remember to do a deep watering at least once a month so the grass doesn't completely die out. But if you have a tree in the lawn, water more. Our recent blog post about watering your trees will give you good pointers about taking care of your trees during the summer.

Lawn & Tree Care Services
Our tree care clients are currently receiving sea kelp soil drench applications throughout the landscape beds. You can read more about the benefits of sea kelp on our recent blog post. Our service technicians are also monitoring for any drought stress and will leave information about proper watering for your plants. You can also watch this quick video to learn more valuable watering tips.
Oulawn care clients are currently receiving corn
gluten. Corn gluten is a bi-product of corn starch. We are happy to announce this product is NON-GMO and organic! Corn gluten is great for drought stressed lawns & over time can help to inhibit weed growth.

Meet our Special Service team!

If you have received mulching, clean up, spring or winter pruning or a topdressing, chances are you have met one of these talented guys. Ben is a Certified Arborist with years of pruning experience as well as planting and restoration experience. Allen and Jason are working toward taking the Certified Arborist test. Both have gained valuable knowledge through hands-on approach. All three fellas have been with In Harmony for many years and are valuable members of our team.
New Landscape Design & Install

The homeowners' goals in this recent project were to increase the usability of the landscape and add beauty to the backyard. They wanted a space that was not only attractive but provided entertaining elements such as a fire pit, BBQ area and space they could use throughout the year. Plantings for wildlife that are low maintenance and drought tolerant were a must.

The project turned out amazing!  Designer Phoebe Fine pulled out all the stops to dream up this beautiful space while our experienced crews installed everything flawlessly.

If you have a landscape that needs fine tuning or a complete overhaul, we can help. Contact Mark or Vince to get the conversation started.
Reasons to Celebrate
We love getting feedback from our clients!  This picture and comment came in recently from one of our clients about a recent pruning project.
"An example of the beautiful work that Jason has done. Thank you so much." -C.G.

One final note...

We were recognized as a "Best Workplace for Waste Prevention and Recycling" by the King County Solid Waste Division. We are on the Honor Roll because we have made the list five years in a row. We take recycling seriously around here and appreciate the recognition. You can find out about other businesses in our area that were also recognized in this link.

Sincerely,
