Northwest Harvest

We are so thankful to our clients for helping us gather non-perishable food items that benefit folks in Washington. Did you know that Washington is the 22nd hungriest state in the nation? 1 in 5 kids struggle with hunger.  To learn more about Northwest Harvest and what you can be doing throughout the year to help folks in our own state, please check out this  link.

Mulching
Steve mulching
If you see moss growing in your beds, or roots exposed or the soil just looks devoid of any nutrient value, we can help!  We will be doing fall mulching services this year.  Mulch will add beneficial nutrients to the soil, help to protect your plants root system, and can keep weeds down.  Contact Ben if you would like a free estimate.

Bulbs!
Great time to get your spring bulbs in the ground. Plant your daffodils, tulips and hyacinths. These plants will overwinter fine an offer color in early spring.  Also this is a good time to spread wildflower seeds for germination next spring.

September 2015
Happy September
This is such a busy month for us at In Harmony! We began fall aeration and over-seed services, the food drive for Northwest Harvest begins with round 6, compost tea brewing resumes with the cooler weather and the contest for Best of the Northwest starts!  Lets not forget that Autumn begins! Lots of goodness to be had by all!

Lawn & Tree Care Services
We are currently brewing fresh compost tea everyday!  This product is applied throughout your landscaped beds if you are one of our tree care clients.  Compost tea is full of beneficial bacteria and micro-organisms.  It has been called soil soup!  We are also monitoring & treating any insect activity.

Our lawn care clients are receiving fertilizer & if they are on our minimal pesticide program, we are spot treating any broad-leaf weeds that may be present in the lawn.  The cooler temperatures and rains have greatly helped our lawn recover from the summer stress.  We would like to remind you that leaves will be falling on the lawn as temperatures drop at night. Please be sure to rake the leaves off the lawn as quickly as possible.
We will begin calling every client in round 6 to northwestharvest see if you would like to help us gather non-perishable food items for Northwest Harvest.  This is an annual food drive we do with our clients & if you would like to participate, please leave food items at the front door on the day of services.  Our technician will bring it back to the office.  Please contact Karrie if you have any questions.

Special Service

This has been a long hot summer!  Many lawns have been left to go dormant this season.  Once the weather shifts and days become shorter, rain returns with cooler temperatures, we will be starting up the fall aeration & over-seed season.  We offer aeration & over-seeding in the spring & fall.  If you would like to add these services to your program, please contact Karrie. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Aeration is when we pull plugs out of the lawn.  By opening up the soil profile, it allows for air-flow to the root zone and can help alleviate compaction of soil. The over-seed service is completed after we aerate.  Applying a Northwest blend of seed to the lawn will help to keep the turf thick.  A thick lawn is the best weed barrier!

Landscape Design & Install
Destination:  Backyard Adventure Land
Designer: MJ Gilman

We recently transformed this backyard that was full of weeds, over-grown and unused to an adventure land that will be lived-in & explored regularly. The homeowner wanted a place that the kids could play outside and enjoy the natural elements offered. It is a sanctuary to grow & learn & explore that is safe for the family to enjoy during the day and especially after work.
Access from the upper backyard to the lower backyard was improved with the installation of these giant stone slabs that lead into a patio fit for backyard dinners under the stars.  A fire pit is the perfect accessory for gathering at night to tell stories, roast marshmallows and relax.  This lawn is also the perfect size for summer camp-outs or kicking the soccer ball.
This is a low maintenance landscape that offers refuge from the busy work day as well as a place to build new and lasting memories.
