2016 Thanksgiving Feast
On Friday, November 18, SCCS PTF will host their annual Thanksgiving Feast, a fun tradition of good food, fun and fellowship.
Every year before Thanksgiving break the SCCS gym is transformed into a Thanksgiving feast with PTF volunteers serving a complete meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and cornbread to the entire school, including staff and volunteers.
"K-6 students make placemats in the classroom," said Mrs. Debbie Bannerman, one of the Thanksgiving Feast Coordinators. "Some of the kids get dressed up in themed costumes related to Thanksgiving, like Indians, pilgrims, Plymouth Rock and Salt and Pepper Shakers. One of my favorite aspects of the event is to see the little ones take a small amount of mashed potatoes, maybe one piece of turkey and definitely a cookie. Then the big football players come in and want their plate piled on with food!" Click to read more.

Southern Section Division 13 postseason, and returned victors. The Cardinals defeated Sierra Vista of Baldwin Park, 35-10, to secure the first 11-man football playoff victory in school history.

Jacob Moss led the Cardinals with 13 catches for 255 yards, two touchdowns and 10 carries for 51 yards on the ground and a touchdown.
The receiving numbers pushed him over 1,000 yards for the third straight season.

Sierra Vista pulled within 15-10 near the end of the third quarter, but SCCS rattled off 20 straight points in the fourth to advance. The Cardinals advance to the second round and will host South El Monte, which defeated Rio Hondo Prep 38-23.

SCCS will host South El Monte in the second quarter final game this Friday, November 18th at 7:30 pm at College of the Canyons.
His Grace is Sufficient
By: Mrs. Gunther, SCCS College Counselor
November is one of the busiest months in the life of any College/Career Counselor and many college bound seniors.  At SCCS, I can definitely feel the tension building up and the stress level rising as our seniors scramble to add the final touches to their college applications; crossing all their T's and dotting all their I's as they consider the different colleges they will apply to.  Majors, SAT scores, recommendation letters, tuition, deadlines, ACT exam, GPA, Early Decision, application fees, college tours, AP credit, Financial Aid, extracurricular activities and acceptance letters are some of the topics that are causing the buzz on campus as our seniors prepare for the next chapter of their lives, COLLEGE. For this project we will be re-arranging the current book shelves, adding more tables, creating a teacher lounge, installing new carpet and adding tablets for students to use for class work.

Funds raised to date total over $17,000! If you weren't able to attend the talent show or wanted to make a donation towards the project, there are still opportunities available. Some of the items that need to be purchased include: lighting fixtures, tables, chairs and tablets. Click here to view the items needed for the project and/or to make a donation online.

SCCS High School Choir one of Seven Chosen to Sing in Disney's Candlelight Ceremony!
Our high school choir is thrilled to have been chosen to sing in Disney's Candlelight ceremony on December 4th. Candlelight has been a tradition at Disneyland and Disneyworld since 1958. During the ceremony, a celebrity reads the Luke account of Christ's birth and is accompanied by choir and orchestra.
SCCS' High School Choir has been auditioning for Candlelight for several years, but until this year had never made it in. Disney receives hundreds of applications from around the country. This year they only accepted seven high school choirs and SCCS' Concert Choir is one of them!
We would appreciate your prayers as we work hard to learn sixteen difficult pieces of choral music in preparation for the performance.
Getting to Know Mrs. Patterson
SCCS Fifth Grade Teacher
What has been a special event or experience you have had while working at SCCS to date? I have had the pleasure of working at SCCS while all four
L-R: Mrs. Patterson's Husband Jay, Mrs. Patterson, daughter-in-law Brittany, son Nolan, daughter Abigail, daughter Grace and granddaughter Reagan

of my children have attended here.  Some special experiences are seeing my kids here and having them pop into my classroom at random times throughout the day.
I really enjoy our 5th grade field trips, particularly the Aquarium of the Pacific.  I love watching my students dissect a squid.  Some of their faces are hilarious!

What is something interesting about you personally that others might not know? My youngest girls and I take road trips every summer.  We have driven to 48 of the 50 US state capitols as well as Washington DC.  I love to garden and have 20 fruit trees in my backyard.   I am a museum junky and one of my all-time favorite places to visit is the Ronald Reagan Library.

Life Verses: "Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9 and Micah 6:8  "He has shown you O man what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
