SCCS Students Growing as a "Citizen"
By: Mr. Mark Wilson

This year SCCS Elementary launched a Citizenship Assessment program that measures eight categories reflecting how each student is growing as a "citizen" of the SCCS community. Each citizenship trait is listed on their report cards with comments. To support this program, these same eight categories were then set as the monthly character themes in our Kids with Character program.

It is our hope that this will prove to be one additional way that SCCS is strengthening our partnership to teach minds AND train hearts for God. Academics are important, but the primary reason you have placed your child at SCCS is to reach their heart with the Word of God and prepare them to make an impact in the world for Him. Therefore, it is our desire that we provide as much feedback as possible regarding your child(ren)'s social and behavioral development. Click to read more.

SCCS' 17th Annual Golf Tournament
Valencia Country Club - May 16, 2016

On May 16, SCCS hosted its 17th Annual Golf Tournament at the Valencia Country Club. Seventy-two golfers enjoyed a weather-perfect day of golf on a pristine course filled with family, friends and colleagues. This year's tournament featured a hole in one prize: a 2016 Honda Civic. There were several other contests for straightest drive, closest to the pin and a Hit the Green Challenge for a chance to win a sleeve of Titleist golf balls. Mr. Huckabone's tee shot on the Honda Civic Hole was straight enough, landing on the fairway, rolling onto the green, and headed for the hole only to stop about eight feet short of a new car.

Approximately twenty volunteers of parents, students, and the Athletic Committee worked together to make this years tournament one of the best. The tournament raised over $8,000 allowing the Athletic Committee to continue to improve the school's overall athletic program.

Thank you to all our helpers, sponsors for your support. Without your partnership, a successful tournament would not be possible.
REMEMBER, mark your calendar and 'Save the Date' for, Monday, May 22, 2017, at Valencia Country Club.

Peter Pan a Huge Success!
By: Mrs. Shannan Smith

Parents pitched in, students used their God-given gifts and the show became
a grand success with all these awesome abilities that consist throughout the S.C.C.S. community. "Peter Pan the Panto was so fun; it made me feel like a kid again," said one S.C.C.S. student. Mrs. Smith, the theatre teacher, had just come back from England four days prior to show time, which left her excitedly inspired to bring the love of theatre to her students, audience and team members. The two day shows occurred on April 29th and 30th, an evening and afternoon show, respectively.  There was a full house each performance and returning audience members for the second performance.
