Fall Fling
By: Mrs. Kendra Moss
On October 16 SCCS 9-12th graders met to celebrate the school's annual Fall Fling.

SCCS' Fall Fling is organized by the Student Leadership Council and serves as an opportunity
for students to spend time together, play games and enjoy a meal outside of the regular academic setting.

One hundred twenty students showed up dressed in their western wear ready for a night of fun. The evening featured some fun "cowboy games," a photo booth with props and a Rattler's dinner.  Following dinner was the main events, square dancing.  We had square dance caller, Susan Michaels and the band "The Bees Knees" come back for the second year to play live music and teach the kids square dance steps. The kids learned to promenade and do-si-do while laughing hysterically. SCCS Talent Show & Fundraiser a Huge Success!
By: Mrs. Tracey Scott

On Saturday, November 7, SCCS held its annual talent show and fundraiser.

The evening started out with 11 vintage and specialty cars on display for families to view while listening to live music performed by grandparent Carmine Zeccardi.

There was also a silent and live auction. Families had fun bidding on over 200 items like a Lego gift basket, Principal for the Day and Disneyland tickets, to name a few.

Dinner consisted of hot dogs and hamburgers as well as ice cream sodas. High school choir students sold baked goods to raise money for their trip to New York.

Over 90 students in grades K-12 took to the stage to sing, dance, play the guitar, trumpet and drums, and perform skits. Pastor Rusty George from Real Life church was our emcee and Councilman Dante Acosta helped auction off some live items. Click here to read more.
SCCS Thanksgiving Feast
On Friday, November 20, SCCS PTF will host their annual Thanksgiving Feast, a fun tradition of good food, fun and fellowship.

Every year before Thanksgiving break the SCCS gym is transformed into a Thanksgiving feast with PTF volunteers serving a complete meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy and cornbread to the entire school, including faculty and staff.

"K-6 students make placemats in the classroom," said Mrs. Debbie Bannerman, one of the Thanksgiving Feast Coordinators. "Some of the kids get dressed up in themed costumes related to Thanksgiving, like indians, pilgrims, Plymouth Rock and salt and pepper shakers. One of my favorite aspects of the event is to see the little ones take a small amount of mashed potatoes, maybe one piece of turkey and definitely a cookie. Then the big football players come in and want their plate piled on with food!" Click here to read more.

His Grace is Sufficient
By: Mrs. Gunther
November is one of the busiest months in the life of any College/Career Counselor and many college bound seniors. At SCCS, I can definitely feel the tension building up and the stress level rising as our seniors scramble to add the final touches to their college applications; crossing all their T's and dotting all their I's as they consider the different colleges they will apply to. Majors, SAT scores, recommendation letters, tuition, deadlines, ACT exam, GPA, Early Decision, application fees, college tours, AP credit, Financial Aid, extracurricular activities and acceptance letters are some of the topics that are causing the buzz on campus as our seniors prepare for the next chapter of their lives, COLLEGE. Getting to Know Mrs. Walter
Mrs. Walter currently teaches third grade at SCCS. It is her 24th year of teaching, although only 19 of them have been in third grade. She has also taught kindergarten, second grade, and sixth grade.

What has been a special event or experience you have had while working at SCCS to date? I love being here at SCCS! A special joy is having my daughter teach here too!  I also enjoy being able to have a relationship with "old" third graders who are now in upper grades.  It is wonderful getting to know families and getting to teach all the children in a family as they come through third grade.

What is something interesting about you personally that others might not know? My husband John and I will be married 40 years this coming May.  We met at a Christian college in Pennsylvania.  John works for The Master's College where all 4 of our children graduated.  Our oldest son Marshall is a pastor in Simi Valley.  He and his wife Beka have a daughter named Kay (3). Our second son Jordan is in management at an ambulance company. He has recently transferred to a company in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Erin and their 3 children, Lily (5), Jimmy (3), and Elsie (2 months). Our daughter Emily, as most of you know, teaches here at SCCS in 6th grade.  Our youngest daughter Meghan is planning to go into missions in South Africa. She hopes to be able to leave in February.  I praise God for this dear family He has given me and am so grateful that each adult is walking with the Lord.  That is a great gift and blessing!
