As municipal elections in Ontario approach...

Community Health & Wellbeing events highlight need for healthier public policy and wider focus for health care system

 

Between October 5th and October 11th, 111 community-governed primary healthcare organizations across Ontario will take part in the national celebration of Community Health and Wellbeing Week (CHWW) using the theme Shift the Conversation: Community Health & Wellbeing.

Ontario's week of special events is coordinated by the Association of Ontario Health Centres (AOHC), which represents organizations applying a unique and comprehensive approach, delivering medical services in combination with a wide-range of health promotion and community development initiatives. #CHWW events will spotlight the benefits of this comprehensive approach, especially in response to current stresses on health and wellbeing here in Ontario.

Stop medical tourism

 

AOHC is working with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario and the Association of Ontario Midwives to defend our public health care system by opposing medical tourism. RNAO has initiated a freedom of information request to find out where medical tourism is occurring and what the Ontario government role is.
