Together, AOHC and our member centres are on a journey upstream - away from sickness and toward health and wellbeing - and the Model of Health and Wellbeing is the blueprint for our journey.

This series introduces the Model, brings its principles, values, and attributes to life with stories and data, and includes opportunities for review and reflection.

Dental care should be included in public health system

A new report from the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences finds that 6 million Canadians cannot afford to see a dentist, and only 5% of dental costs in Canada are covered by a patchwork of public programs - one of the lowest rates in OECD countries.

Read a summary of the report

Add your voice to the call to expand public dental programs in Ontario to cover low income adults and seniors:

  • Send this template letter to Minister Hoskins and your local MPP

  • Send a short tweet to #ONpoli, #ONDental or #DrEricHoskins

Ebola Virus Disease webinar video now available

In August 2014, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term, in partnership with Public Health Ontario (PHO) and Ministry of Labour, collaborated to host three webinars discussing the status of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in West Africa and guidance on steps health organizations in Ontario can take to prepare for the possibility of caring for a potential patient with EVD.

Due to the interest generated by these webinars,  a video recording of the presentation portion of the August 28th session has been posted on PHO's website www.publichealthontario.ca/ebola, under the 'Presentations' heading.
